Hi Paul, just subbed 👍. I was hunting and hunting the net to finally SEE a voltage regulator. Most just described it, but I learn from visual as I suffered 🧠🤕 due to two strokes. Really chuffed, thanks paul. I’m going to see how my Grainfather G30 boiler does with the regulator during spirit run 👍 Bri
Well done. I am using the T500 still as well.I would have assumed you would have gotten much more distillate but it depends on what your gravity reading was at the start of your wash. I have been reading a lot about stainless steel versus copper and have decided that I will use copper saddles and a stainless steel column when I upgrade because green, black or blue marks on copper are poisonous and must be removed. Basically copper takes more maintenance. But copper is great for removing sulphates. Anyway, that is a whole other story. I want to build a continuous still and get much bigger along with my licenses so keep up the great work . From your friend in Mexico, (otherwise known as the Lockdown state of Victoria) !
Gees Brendan, We had one case of Covid in Brisbane and the Premier came on saying it was the UK new strain and put us on a 3 day lockdown. I probably shouldn't complain, there may have been 10 new cases and the Premier may have put us on a 30 day lockdown. I know you have had it tough down there and am glad you are able to cope with the extremely long lockdown you had to endure. My heart goes out to those countries that are ravaged by this Pandemic, I just hope that the next 6 months sees a reduction in the worldwide cases with the Covid Vaccine. Thanks for the comments Brendan, yes - copper is high maintenance but worth it :-)
you can use the t500 with no packing and reflux to produce 60 to 70 %. A handful of copper saddles and half a handful of the stainless for 80%. The flavor is all in the water content and the reflux has to work to protect the plastic parts in the head. A pot still alone will struggle to get an average of 70 % on a good day for a spirit run. T500 can hit target ABV consistently.
Looking nice! I don’t know if I miss it or I didn’t hear! What’s the percentage of alcohol? Just the tip, maybe you don’t want to here it! But if you take the regulation of the cooling water after column instead of before, The cooling water fill up the coldingspiral much better, if you have the regulation before column you just fill up the half spiral and the other half will drain out or get Air pockets, because of the gravity! Hope you don’t take it badly I just want to say it. Cheers (sorry for bad English hope you understand)
When it comes to tiles to know if you are going into tails with the oils dripping into the alcohol think about when you looked down tar Road on a very hot day you can see a heat Haze you will start to notice something similar going into the alcohol it's the oils not dissipating into the alcohol smoothly switch to collecting tiles and keep it for another run. Going back to your foreshots with that size still if it's a 30 L you're probably need to collect 50ml or up to 100ml to be safe then you should be in Heads no expert but that's just some stuff I've picked up hopefully some of that might have helped you in some way shape or form
Nice ,,,will you flavor your ethenol or age it with oak char pieces,,,,,is the condenser inside the 3 inch column ? Is it a spiral or different design,,,enjoyed the show today, thanks
Filter a couple of times first. Want to try this new flavor that seems to be great, will report in a future video. Yes on the condenser, surprised at how little water needed.

Be safe chaps, greetings from Adelaide.

I always look forward to your video presentation! Thanks
Thanks Kevin, glad you enjoy them.
Being very new to distilling I like looking back on your videos for guidance, I'm learning a lot, about to do my first distill with the T500 .
Good on you 02BigKev.... You are going to enjoy this journey...
Very informative! Ive been thinking about trying the pot still adaptions on the t500.
I plan making a vid on converting a T500 Reflux into a T500 potstill....Stay Tuned Jacob
I love to see you upload!
Hey Borock, more coming my friend :-)
