    Melissa, don't forget to do your prayers to the dice god! they are fickle and will get angry if not properly honoured!
    but joking aside, I love this series so so much.

      It's crazy to me to think we've been running this campaign for over a year now. We're going to be doing a big giveaway event for E50 too! It's such a fun game, but our Orbital Blues interlude was some of the greatest fun. We have to find the time to do it again.

    Hey, thanks for the great series, really enjoying it while preparing for playing the game with our group.
    One question: since your players have the audience pool available, do you make the encounters a bit more difficult on purpose? Or is the system just naturally that difficult on combat?
    One thing I really like are the piercing blows, which seem to portray pretty well the brutality of combat. You can try to slowly wear down your enemies via endurance damage, but one or two lucky strikes going past the defences can end things suddenly. This seems far more realistic than the HP systems of many other games.

      Thank you for watching!
      Re: Audience Bits. How we used this evolved slightly over the campaign, but the basic idea was that the audience could contribute bits to help the players or help the GM. The players got extra dice, and I got a vague "complication" pool. I basically used it to up the difficulty of some encounters, yeah. Sometimes it was an extra enemy, or sometimes I added an enemy one tier higher (i.e. a slightly stronger orc).
      We all really enjoyed the mechanics of the system, especially the duality of PBs and Endurance.

      I mostly use Tabletop Audio for background music while we play (our opening theme music is from a different source). Tabletop Audio is amazing! I support their Patreon, and that gives me access to music-only and ambience-only files, which I highly recommend. But there's plenty of freely accessible content on their website. The SoundPad is really cool!

    • @AdventuresinLollygagging

      I imagine that's a personal preference. We're using FoundryVTT and there's a good system up there for One Ring. Definitely makes it easy on the players to keep track of character sheets and what not.

    I didn't think all types of weapons were eligible for piecing blows. Isn't it only swords and spears and such "Piercing weapons"? Clubs shouldn't be able to do that right?

    • @AdventuresinLollygagging
      @AdventuresinLollygagging  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think only Unarmed attacks are unable to deal Piercing Blows. On p. 99, the book says any attack can cause PB, and in the weapons charts Unarmed is the only weapon noted as not being able. A "Piercing Blow" is different than the "Pierce" special damage feature. 'Pierce' lets you spend a Success icon on a Bonus die to modify your feat die roll--increasing it so that your attack can qualify for a PB. This is only available to bows, swords, and spears.

    Hi, as the previous sessions, it is really great to watch you. About the little issue of Eryniel (th-cam.com/video/c1ObsNW94LQ/w-d-xo.html), I think the cause is that Melissa clicked on the bonus/penalty zone to add 2 success dice but she clicked on the left (which is penalty) so the system withdraw 2 dice from the pool and she only draw 2 feat dice :( Someone has reported to me that it wasn't really clear because the label is "Bonus/Penalty" and the input box is "Penalty/Bonus" :( So I have fixed that for the next release :) Hope you enjoy playing TOR with the system, it is a great RPG ;)

    • @AdventuresinLollygagging
      @AdventuresinLollygagging  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for clearing that up! I didn't warn about the update before stream, so we would normally sort that out ahead of time. Absolutely loving the game and the Foundry system so far! Question for you: Is there a recommended character portrait size? I noticed that the character portraits on rolls seem squished. Maybe we're using the wrong ratio? Anyway, thanks for everything you're doing! We are so thankful to have the system to run our games. Very excited to get back to TOR next week!

    Actually being miserable is when shadow reaches current hope and rolling an eye on the feat die will trigger a bout of maddness prompting a player to describe a scene with the next flaw in their path. A player can harden will to gain a scar but those are very hard to get rid of. When shadow reaches max hope than a player can no longer harden will and the only way to reduce shadow is with a bout of maddness and all rolls are ill favoured. If a player does not have a bout before the end of the adventure they are forced to retire.

    • @AdventuresinLollygagging
      @AdventuresinLollygagging  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think that's entirely correct. I'm not seeing where the rules say rolling an Eye triggers a Bout of Madness. When you're Miserable (p. 22), rolling an Eye means your roll is an auto-fail. That's the only penalty listed. Bouts of Madness only occur, like you note later, when your Shadow score reaches their maximum Hope rating (p. 139). This is how we're playing it, but we might have said something in error. Do you have a page number for the Eye = Bout of Madness? Thanks for checking!

    • @MRdaBakkle
      @MRdaBakkle 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AdventuresinLollygagging you are right. My brain is getting the rules confused with 1e. That was the case there. In 2e it's changed and makes a bout of maddness much more up to the player by giving them options to Harden Will before shadow reaches max hope. Than a bout of maddness is the only way to remove shadow once it reaches max hope.

    • @AdventuresinLollygagging
      @AdventuresinLollygagging  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MRdaBakkle Right on. I'll be curious to hear what folks more familiar with 1e think about that change. 2e's Harden Will seems to slow the descent a bit.

      @@AdventuresinLollygagging shadow control seems to give a little bit more power to the players. I do like they removed the Heal Corruption undertaking and based losing shadow on actions done in the adventure. Often times players would pick Heal Shadow every undertaking and that's kind of boring.
