    Very good video. Just found your channel and I’m impressed.
    It is good to see a younger operator operating with respect to his machine. Stay safe and enjoy your work

    The ‘ole komatsu seems to be working pretty good, she don’t seem to miss a beat. Good job on the road, dad’ll be proud. Kudos from windy n rainy Newfoundland.

    Never watched a video of someone run a dozer clear cutting a path through the woods. This was badass I think I need to get one

    Love that you don’t have shiny new cat stuff! I am an Orange bleeder as well! Newest we have is a 1972 210: Our nest IH tractors are two 1981 3788 2plus2’s and a 1976 Steiger. Love the old Mack trucks!

      Me and Dad did something similar to that once before. We had a big road job near Summerville WV, it took a month and we stay in a house that was being renovated and come back home on the weekends. That was a interesting experience

    Nice dozer. I have a komatsu d31p wide track caged for forestry. Wish it was enclosed like urs .

    • @AppalachianRust

      We’ve got a D31 as well, lots a power for a smaller machine, just with a canopy. Nice little dozer, not the wide track though but I’ve ran one before and it graded very well.

  • @rustyoldjunk

    Looks nice, seems like those komatsus got a lot of track on the ground, makes it nicer for leveling. Must be good old dozers, I’ve never run one.

    • @AppalachianRust

      They are excellent, there is a little difference between the D53 and the D58 that we have because the other D58 is actually more stable than this one, just going on feel from one to the other.
      The blades are strong too the hold up well.

    • @rustyoldjunk

      Is the 58 newer then or how does their number work? I guess they are close to a D5 in size?
      I used to do a lot of that kind of work, we did ATV trails for the county parks in the fall I ran a d4h at that time. Had to go out in the winter sometimes for loggers and plow the snow off to freeze the swamps down for winter logging too.

    • @AppalachianRust

      @@rustyoldjunk they are the same machine. The D58 was sold in the US. The D53 was Japan and at some point made its way over

    • @williammorigeau2980

      @AppalachianRust pull the outside into the middle of the road. Then you have drainage ditches on both sides. Otherwise you keep going down and the road is the lowest point and water sits.

    • @AppalachianRust

      @@williammorigeau2980 ok yeah on this road it will have to be closed out to water dips to turn the water off. if you've got ditches you really will need pipes and at that point your getting into so expense. this is just to get timber out and most of the time no matter what you build its got to be reworked at the end of the timber job
