I’m sure that this kind of music was a major influence to a band like this. Can’t remember the musician, I think it was John Frusciante who said something like “unless you make new notes, tones, rhythms and time signatures, then 99% of music is just a collection of inspiration from other songs done in your own style”. Not an exact quote but I remember him explaining that to be completely original, you have to make sounds and rhythms that have never existed before. The guy you’re relating to this song took inspiration from music that he’s heard before. You could find a thousand songs that sound like this if you’re looking for it.
