- The annoying blinking oil light and buzzer that came stock with your later model Vanagon has scared you for no reason more times than you can count. Here is how you can disable it. However I would install an oil pressure gauge before you do so. That way you can see what your oil pressure is in real time. Do this at your own risk.
Just finished doing this on my 88 Cabbie!
Couldn’t done it without you, THANKS!!
Gauges were a bit different but it was the same process. Only hard part was pulling the circuit “board” with out breaking it seeing it was extremely brittle. You’re a life saver :)
I did two things differently. I was able to remove the circuit board without removing the foil and, I unsoldered the pin instead of bending it over. Other than that, this is just what I needed. Thank you Van-Again.
Thank you this also works for the mk1 golf gti dashboard, it is a little bit different but it worked!! Thanks
Glad it helped
Great video just applied that to my 1986 cabriolet , works , wish id found it months ago installing gauge now !! Thanks !!!!
Dennis dbtrucks. I have a 1990 cabriolet, i have an oil pressure gauge already. Do u think this would work for me ? I hate that dam buzzer. Thank you.
+Eric Hill Yes they are the same
Thank you. Just what I needed.
Heather will be a happy girl after seeing this video ..That's a great video for someone with a late Vanagon
Great stuff. Thanks for publishing this :-)
Any tips for a 1983 86c gauges are the same different board thanks in advance.
The original 83 cluster doesn't have this.
@@VanAgain What do you mean by doesn.t have this ( the buzzer sound )or the way to solve this by bending the pin ?
@@WesselBoxman The 83 Vanagon does not use this control board or have the buzzer. It usually a single oil pressure sending unit and a light. That is all. Does that answer your question?
I have a 1983 polo with same issues circuitboard is a little different gauges are the same , wondering if its has the same pins inside. Thanks for respons.
@WesselBoxman As far as I know the L board works the same as the Vanagon. So if you want to disable the buzzer it should work the same.
Hello do you know, if it is posible
To do something like this.
For golf mk2 dashboard. The print board is behind the tachometer. the dashboard is the one whit only one connecter.
Greatings diempie
Yes it is the same as the Vanagon.
@@VanAgain thanks.
But the print board is different.
Do you have email. And can i send you pictures from my dashboard print.
Greatings diempie
Hello, great video! But I have one question - this disable only the buzzer sound or warning oil light too when buzzer turn on? I understand that this doesnt disable oil light when I am starting the engine - low oil pressure sensor, but I disabled that thing which makes that buzzing noise and oil light is flashing anyway. I have additional oil pressure gauge and new oil pump, also new high oil pressure sensor. Oil pressure is great in my engine but that light still blinking, I want to keep that light only when pressure drops to minimum.
I recommend that if you are having oil pressure issues or questions, you should install an oil pressure gauge. That way, instead of a light and blinker that is driving you crazy randomly, you can actually see if there is a real pressure problem or not. Makes your trip a lot less stressful.
@@VanAgain Like I wrote - I have oil pressure gauge but that doesnt anwer my question - if oil pressure light will still work after that disable procedure.
Yes the light will fade on at low oil pressure at idle. Over 2000 rpms the light is disabled so you would want to keep an eye on your oil pressure gauge from time to time.
Thank you!
Would the pin be the same one on a right hand drive?
Not sure, but I imagine so.
Thank you. I was going insane 🤣
Would this work on a mk2 scirocco?
Yes they are virtually the same board.
hmm. I don't think anyone on TH-cam actually knows where the buzzer is. There's no way I'm taking the speedo out. Unlesss the buzzer's in there... who knows?...
Yes it is behind the speedometer. You have to remove it to access it. I know.
Or……… you could just ground the oil sensor wire and it would never buzz again, and it’s way less invasive.
Unless that wiring is bad and that is what is causing the buzzer to go off in the first place.
