I truly do believe that in my lifetime, we will achieve immortality. Whether that be through becoming a cyborg/lab grown replicant or through bio-engineering. If you look at the speed technology is progressing it's truly a terrifying yet beautiful thing.
We will be able to replace human parts with parts made from much more durable materials, all your memories, thoughts, emotion data will be mapped into quantum digital data and it will be transferable, Even if your current self somhow gets pulverized all that data that is essentially you is allways backed up to the cloud and can be restored and imbedded to a new veassel at any time.
Considering the incomprehensible vastness of the cosmos, it’s likely there have been countless civilizations that have reached this level of advancement or beyond. The possibilities are literally infinite. It makes my brain hurt.
I believe there are more efficient and more "alive" forms of consciousness. Biological life may be just one of many forms of Life in the Universe, with Universe itself being a super-alive organism
Well, consciousness is just a mechanism. I doubt the universe has a singular consciousness because mechanisms imply connectedness while the main property of the Universe is its large size. Hence, consciousness is only to be found in smaller entities, except if information could travel faster than light (as implied in the video).

We may be able to eventually stop an incoming impact.. but stuff like super volcanoes is a different story. My point is.. based on the stats. Every single civilization that has existed before us has fallen. Some from their own doing and some from natural disasters. The odds of us making it a million years without major interruption are very very low.
