    I used the same mechanic for 28 years. His shop was 3 miles from my office but I lived 22 miles west of the city. He was always great and stood by his work. One day my daughters best friend's dad had his auto shop in our town where we lived. So I took my truck to him and he said it would be $600. Then the price kept going up and I spent $3,000 with him. Never again he was a crook. I felt like I was running around on my mechanic. I told him what happened he laughed and said, just bring it in. He took care of my wife's cars, my trucks, my 2 children's cars over the years and WAS always timely and fair. He even would sometimes on something large like a transmission or engine let me order it have it sent to his shop and he'd put it in and STILL stood by it. This plaintiff was a crook in my opinion.

    He ordered the parts online. I have myself received parts after ordering online, and have the wrong part in the correct box. The answer is because when someone returns an item it doesn’t get checked to make sure it’s the correct item in the box being returned. And by the way, the dealership will absolutely lie to you. They want you to come to them for all your service and repair needs. And running down the previous mechanic is one of their favorite go to’s.

    The plaintiff bought aftermarket cat-converters which usually don't work well with cars like Honda and Toyota. Once he found out he needed OEM parts, he tried blaming the mechanic to get his money back. As the wife of a shop owner, I can confirm this type of customer is absolutely exhausting. Most mechanics will not install customer supplied parts, because what they charge strictly for labor is not enough to build your business. They also love to say something, ‘wasn’t like that before’ that has absolutely zero to do with the repair they did.

    • @krystalunique2269

  • @JamesPerk-h3n
    @JamesPerk-h3n 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +27

    Good call. I would never work on someone's vehicle that purchased the parts elsewhere and wanted to pay just for the labor. There's absolute junk in the aftermarket business and there's quality stuff. If you're paying $50 from somewhere and $200 somewhere else, it's not the same quality, otherwise whoever was selling the part for $200 would be out of business. Most people are trying to get the vehicle fixed as cheap as possible, not thinking of the long term. The plaintiff is typical of the nightmare customer who's tire you repaired and he comes back for the next three years wanting you to pay for his blown engine, slipping tranmission and broken AC because you worked on it last.

    • @GrayDaddy01

      @@GrayDaddy01 Then they would know what was a quality part and what wasn't. When you go to the parts store, most often they carry various brands of the same part. Some are lower end quality and it escalates to the best quality. If your car has 200K miles on it and you're getting a new one in six months, you don't need brake pads that are the best and most expensive.

      The problem is if you bring in your own parts most mechanics won’t guarantee the work. If you buy after market parts the cost is on you if the part fails or doesn’t fit your exact car. But if you allow the mechanics to pick the parts then they have to more or less “insure” the part. And if something goes wrong with that exact repair then they are responsible.

    • @1967davethewave
      @1967davethewave 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      You are absolutely 100% wrong. First of all, never EVER use an aftermarket catalytic converter. They only work about 50% of the time. Catalytic converters have precious metal in them to make them work. That is why they get stolen so often, they are worth quick money at a recycler unless they are aftermarket. A recycler will not buy an aftermarket cat at all, they just say not interested. As far as other parts, I have worked as a mechanic for about 39 year now and the aftermarket has gotten worse every year in quality. I estimate about 10% of new aftermarket parts are defective right out of the box. If you budget shop closer to 40% of those really cheap Ebay parts are defective. They rely on the very low price plus the work to have to prove the part was defective, they usually require a shop to verify it, to stay in business. As a guy who owned a shop for 15 years I refused to let customers supply their own parts unless they signed a statement saying they understood that there was ZERO warranty for the reasons I stated.

I wonder if the "robbers" broke the front of the hood. (not sure if car thief's want to chime in) :) That made me think if that was a lie what else the plaintiff would be willing to fib about.
    I also wonder if he (plaintiff) went through all the trouble of going to HONDA why they would not give him something in writing confirming that the parts were in fact not brand name.
    Finally, in my experience mechanics do know one another, (no matter where they work) so it is feasible that the defendant asked around about the plaintiff, and heard some rumors about him.

    She is absolutely terrible as a Judge. She don't look at facts. She makes believe a scenario in her head and then abuses her authority to make it look like she's using common sense. People's court used to be the best show and ever since she took over it's been a joke. Bye now. 🤮

    Plaintiff is very suspect, he trusts some random person at Honda and not the person that fixed the car? This guy has no case, no evidence, just long winded boring stories

    NEVER EVER...USE AFTERMARKET on certain vehicles/brand of cars. All I bond is German be it Audi or Volkswagen. You always use German / Audi / Volkswagen oil, Any fluids, Any parts!!! That's how you CARE, LOVE a foreign car! Don't ever use aftermarket parts

    Plaintiff forgot the code, has all your evidence in the courtroom, or you look stupid. And he did on the estimate from Honda. He did not get one. LOL!

    Don’t be that guy. The guy that goes from mechanic to mechanic, gas station to gas station. Until you don’t know who did what. I picked a mechanic a long time ago and take my cars there for everything. Tires, oil changes, brakes and anything else. Any issues it’s one mechanic, I also don’t supply parts either. I let the mechanic supply the parts again any issues with parts it’s on the mechanic.

      I remember when I was a kid, visiting our relatives in Boston for the first time, 1970s. I went into a store and a sign on the cash register said "In God We Trust, all others pay CASH". That's the American Way. Get yours, screw everyone else. Sadly, Canada has become the same. Glad I'm old.
