Chained echoes is the only game on this list I don't agree with being on here. It's a great idea not implemented well. The writing is pretty bad, the difficulty spikes and drops all over the place, the balance is really bad and the overdrive system forces you to do suboptimal and nonsensical things. I played it for 30 hours wanting to like it so bad and finally gave up because of how frustrating it was to see all the glaring issues it has.
I agree but i Loved every minute of SEA of Stars, everyone told me chained echoes IS waaaaaaay better, and ITS Made in My country so i tried IT and stopped after30 annoying hours @@LordNovaPrime1
Great vid man! Sea of Stars got to be one of the best turn-based games out there. Ever since I have started playing it, I have yet to play another game
I really wasn’t feeling the demo.. But this feeling in my gut told me get it anyway.. Now it’s starting to click.. Not quite as much as Unicorn Overlord tho
There is a Octopath Traveler 2 demo for PC on Steam. I checked the demo. "Sprite graphics" for party characters is not my taste - it was fine in the 1980s. Wasteland 3 is for me Jagged Alliance. Star Renegades is again pixel art, but more my taste (larger character sprites). Yakuza: Like a dragon has good "realistic" 3D graphics. Persona 3 Reload has good "comic" 2.5D graphics. I bought Baldur's Gate 3 at release. BG3 is the reference today. Fallout 4 is (more or less) a good turn based RPG if you use the VATS system (slow motion mode). Thanks for your good information about the turn based RPG niche!
So there's like 5 games here I'd never even heard of. Thanks i was almost out of 40+hour rpgs to play :p I'm really loving this JRPG resurgence we're having
@@midknightgeek6629 It depends, lots of rpgs can take over 40 hours. Some just are. Games like Fire Emblem, DQ7 (personal favorite), really any dq game post 7 will be super long. Persona games, many FF games in recent years. Legend of Legaia, Xenogears. Many older rpgs can be blitzed to be shorter but I like to take my time with them generally speaking.
I am almost turning 28 and I am experiencing a big problem with gaming as no games can give me the gaming experience I felt before. I want to game, it is just that I feel numb and unable to immerse myself like before. I recently played Bloodstained ritual of the night and felt the nostalgic excitement as I have played Aria of sorrow which is one of the first games I have played that really got me into gaming. After finishing it I felt a deep sense of nostalgia and sunk me into an abyss of loneliness knowing that I may never feel the same way I did with my earlier years of gaming. I was planning to play games similar to the OG final fantasy to trigger the nostalgic feeling and get me back to excitement to gaming and you sir understood gaming well. Just watching this list got me excited as I have played Wasteland 3 2 years ago before I went numb. It was actually one of the last few games I have played along with Baldur's gate 3 that will forever leave a smile on me before I unwillingly transitioned to the state I am in now. Right now I really feel a void in me as if Some part of me is now missing. I have read about gaming fatigue and been away from gaming for almost half a year now, and I have regained a little spark that I was once brimming with. This list seems to bring back that inner child in me and I will let you know how it goes. Hopefully I can feel the same way as before as gaming is an integral part of who I am, or was
I'm currently playing Triangle Strategy and Wastleland 3. Still need to finish Baldur's Gate 3 and Persona 5. I have Chained Echoes and Sea of Stars on my wishlist.
Wait...less that 400 subscribers? Well this needs to change. This was a solid video and actually had some turn-based games that I have not seen on other lists. Great video man and an easy sub!
love the format of this video. to the point and the game titles are shown at the bottom. Kinda shocked me you're only at 271 subs. I thought you had thousands! hope your channel blows up! Also, can you please put the platform on what the game is played on? thanks for the awesome vid!
AGENA NUKE TIPS: 1. Unlock deal more damage secondary skill by unlocking (7?? This was a good game I can’t remember everything) Skills. 2. Obviously, you have to unlock the inventor skill, and unlock fastening hammer. Or the hammer idk- 3. break the enemy, get her full charge, THEN NUKE.
“Role-playing game games”? Good video tho! All these definitely deserve more attention. I didn’t actually think like a dragon’s battle system was flawed, but maybe I’m boring; one piece odyssey, on the other hand, I couldn’t figure out the combat, despite tutorials!
took me a minute to realise this wasn't a larger production from something like IGN 😅. keep up the great work and great videos bro and i hope your channel grows
Miasma Chronicles, Capes, Shadow Tactics, Solasta, Pathfinder, XCom, Atom, Shadowrun, Marvel: Midnight Suns, Disco Elysium, and how on Earth did you forget Divinity: Original Sin 2?
The first few hours of DD2 killed all the anticipation I had left. I feel no progression of any sort after having a successful run to the boss. I'm missing the micro management of your village the most, not sure I'll give it another try anytime soon.
For me it is the worst. most boring one i have ever witnessed and it blows my mind anyone thinks otherwise. I am only talking about 1 though, i don't know if 2 improves on it in a meaningful way.
I enjoy Disgaea 7. I played it last year but didn't finish because of my work. Then I totally forgot that I had this game in my library. I just remembered it now after reading your comment. 😅
sea of stars was the most boring game I've played so far (obviously couldn't cross the 10 hour mark) which is recommended in so many lists, it has basically no game play loop, story is quite bad as well. Theres nothing I can latch on in this game. I still don't get it how it's everywhere, guess all these lists copy each other. There are so many unknown game pearls that 80% of these list not contain at all.
The game's enjoyment depends on how invested you are in Marvel's cape fiction. For most people who aren't, it's not that great a game be it as a social simulator or a turn-based strategy.
@@pattywizard There is zero role play in that game. A main feature of a role playing game is options that effect story outcome, character devolpment and diffent ways to solve or take on problems. DD2 has nothing of that.
75% of this list (at least) is garbage. You should make less videos and focus more on getting that promotion to assistant manager at your real job w/Burger King.

Oh!!! Final fantasy 3 is amazinggggggg. And so is fire emblem sacred stones ❤
I like this video a lot. I finished playing sea of stars and been itching for a good turn based RPG. Thank you
Marvel's midnight suns has some of the best turn based combat fs
Wasteland 3 and BG3 are some of the most fun I've ever had. Easily played these games for thousands of hours.

I understand you
Find a therapist, it's just gaming, if it's affecting you that deeply it's a symptom of something deeper.
Do you have children? If not…. That will fix these problems.

really good list of games i haven't considered.

Capes was so fuckin dope my only problem with it is there isnt more of it
Rogue Trader is by far my favorite if you can stand some disturbing bugs.
Great list. I add Bravely Default 2.
Unicorn overload will be on here soon, the demo was really fun
great list got any link to the games?
I Would add the trails series
Dragon Quest XI, Final Fantasy X, Persona 5 Royal should be on the list
It's too old. It's not like 15 Must-Play Turn-Based RPG Games in 2016
Notice these are games from 2023 or 2024.
Final fantasy x was old persona 5 royal is pretty new tho
Breath of Fire 3.
With PSX Emulator on android phone or PC with PS4/5 joystick via Bluetooth

Guess i have to come to terms with the fact that there will never be a turn-based game better than Legend of Legaia series 😢
Please put names of the games in chapter titles next time
No Divinity Original Sins 2???
Still think it's better than baldurs gate 3
@@EduFirenze yeah bro :v
Only Mericans like Wasteland.
I would have loved Octopath 2 more if it was a not broken up into many different stories, great looking game but just did not like aspect.
Disgae 7 is not good? Im not playing the game yet

Add monster hunter stories 2 in this list
I will not play Honkai: Star Rail. You can't make me play a gacha game.
Most of them are either cartoon anime or crude crafts. Well, all that remains is to play the old worthy games
2023 and 2024 were sufficiently good years for RPG, don't worry.
