  • Here's the second set, consisting of "Fork Lifter," "Tambourine," "Board Meeting," "Monkey Watch," and "Remix 2." This one, I guarantee, will be more interesting than Set 1.
By the way, some of you may be wondering what these gifts are that the game says I earn whenever I get the Perfects done. If the name of the gift is the same as that of the stage, it's the background music for the game's sound test. (This is the only way to unlock music, by the way, so chances are your sound test will be pretty bare until well after you clear all of the stages.) If it's anything else, then you unlock flavor text. Most of them pertain to the stage itself, though a few do not, most notably that of "Remix 2." More on that below.
    Stage 6
    Fork Lifter
You may remember the heat cranking up for "Fork Lifter" in the regular 1-player mode. Well, I would say the same goes for when you're going for Perfects: "Fork Lifter" feels way tougher than anything before it. Here's another stage with a good example of the almost-perfects not being good enough: If you barely miss the timing, the pea (apparently, they're peas) will get lodged between two of the fork's prongs. If you're barely too fast, it'll get stuck on the left gap, and if you're barely too slow, it'll get stuck on the right gap. The man eating this food will cough rather than gulp it down smoothly. You can not only get by, but you can get a Superb rank purely through near-misses. Not so on Perfects: Every piece of food that passes under the fork must be picked up via the middle prong. (This is my 16th Perfect.)
    Stage 7
    Tambourine
I seem to be the only one who has a lot of trouble with this stage. I was expecting this to be one of my last Perfects, but it seems it was simply my 24th. Still way later than I'd bet most people would pull it off, and definitely later than any of the ones you've seen thus far. (If it looks choppy and off-sync, I apologize. EyeTV was acting up on me, and some of the recordings later on, especially "Donk-Donk," wil look extremely messed up and off-sync.)
    Stage 8
    Board Meeting
This is the 1st stage I got a Perfect on. Incidentally, it's also the only stage I got a Perfect on until I finished the game and cleared "Remix 10." Oddly, I managed to perfect this one before realizing that your character's chair will start spinning automatically and that you only need to stop him in time. A pun I didn't get for the longest time: The executives are pigs, and the game has "boar" in the title.
    Stage 9
    Monkey Watch
You might have noticed that Board Meeting is the first stage I got a Perfect on, so it was a bit ironic that the following stage would be the second-to-last for me to pull it off at. (In other words, it was 49th.) The timing is quite strict on Monkey Watch, not to mention the several inputs after the music loses its percussion and then cuts out entirely. All in all, it's incredibly hard to please all 149 monkeys in one go (plus the one you're playing as, and the one in the hot air balloon, who are already pleased). But when you do, it looks quite impressive, if you ask me.
    Stage 10
    Remix 2
The gift you get upon doing this stage perfectly gets you "Investigation Notes," which pertains not to this stage, but to "Police Call." Normally, the flavor text you get will be about that stage. For instance, "Ad Copy" is an advertisement for the Monkey Watch. (For more on this, check out the "Police Call" video.) As for the stage itself, it may be early-game, but it is ridiculously difficult to do perfectly. I really don't know why, but whatever it is, I fell victim to it: This wound up as my 46th Perfect. It was not as elusive as "Monkey Watch," but it was headscratchingly so anyway, considering I could play "Remix 2" with one mistake per go as early as my still attempting to get through Set 6 in the regular game. Also, one thing I noticed long after I uploaded "Remix 2": The tambourine monkey normally gets flowers coming out of his head when you get a phrase perfectly--this one, sporting a biker punk look, has skulls pop out instead.

Board Meeting was my 2nd Perfect, not my first, which is a bit ironic. My first Perfect was actually Monkey Watch. The way I got it was really interesting as well. My first try, I learned you lose the Perfect if you press A before the game starts. The second try, I missed the first monkey, so I only had one try left to pull a Perfect run through (I had quit after the mistakes, so the run was going through parts that I was quite rusty on). And somehow, on the 3rd try, I got the Perfect.

My first perfect was Ringside, quickly followed by Exhibition Match and Built to Scale.

It's fun to listen to, especially when you get it perfect.

Not sure if you can get a Superb through all near-misses on Fork Lifter, as I near-missed one part of the hamburger and it dropped me to "...just OK" even though I hardly missed anything else. (I think you have to at least get the hamburger perfectly.)

@Overhazard I really don't know. At the time I assumed it was a fluke, as I was only at about the 4th set. As time went on though, I kept leaving myself in awe at what Perfects I got (Tap Troupe 1st try, Love Rap 2 1st try, Shrimp Shuffle 1st try, Working Dough 5th try immediately followed by Working Dough 2 1st try), and now I don't know what to think of my Monkey Watch run. (Sorry for not replying, the button was broken)

Board Meeting was my first perfect too. Funny how coincidences happen.

Monkey Watch was interesting. Towards the end of the song, the first pink monkey of the pair seemed to get a normal high five followed by a hard slap. Maybe it was just my mind playing tricks, but it looked like you ended up making it to the pink monkeys before the rhythm.

Rewatching it again, I noticed it's the hot air balloon's fault. I wouldn't be able to look at the screen while playing this particular one. Heh.
