    Man.. As a completely self-taught musician and "producer" my No.1 rule was never waste time on technical stuff... I was always the "preset" type of person.. BUT since i discover your channel I keep finding myself taking notes and actually USING MY EARS instead of playin it safe with presets! Your channel is pure gold!!!

    I appreciate how you actually make some changes to the mix vs just talking about what they SHOULD be doing. And its wild how fast you can transform them and with just a few little moves. shows your experience.

    Great observations. With a couple of those, it's definitely more of a, lacking in production/arrangement thing, rather than a mixing issue. When you get that stuff bang on, it makes mixing so much easier.

    Hey man, great video! I can really understand how you approach reviewing the mixes in a professional manner with what could be done better to help musicians, especially if they are mixing and mastering their own track, make music sound better to a listeners' ears. I subscribed, I look forward to new content from you. Keep up the great work! :)

    The "Holy" track was nice. One thing that seems to work for me (in a pop/rock song) to raise the chorus is a simple, subtle, high string line.

    • @spinlightstudios
      @spinlightstudios  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is always a nice subtle trick to lift a section!

      @@spinlightstudios because of your vids, I now constantly train my ears to hear the harshness that I can see you tame at 2-4k and 5-7k in your vids. I think it was your first mix through where I heard that and till now, I keep going back to that vid to calibrate my ears to how those ranges should sound like. So yeah, your insights are really helpful!

    I think the first track sounded amazing. Didn't sound out of time whatsoever.

    • @spinlightstudios
      @spinlightstudios  ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely a cool song, but there is some timing stuff going on. It’s not terrible, just caught my attention. The drums lag in places - just sounds a little more raw - which can be a stylistic choice. All subjective!

    • @A-Zcovers
      @A-Zcovers ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spinlightstudios honestly, I'm sure you caught some detail out of your monitors. I was just sharing my perspective. For me personally hearing some thing that wasn't completely dialed in sounded kind of refreshing.

    • @A-Zcovers
      @A-Zcovers ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spinlightstudios in regards to the timing of the drums. Not the entire song.

    • @spinlightstudios
      @spinlightstudios  ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure! And that’s what I mean, some people will absolutely love that and others will want something a bit more polished. That’s where you as a mixer have to decide what is best for the song and the target audience!
