I think you might enjoy it - it lended some context to some of the depictions of illness in classic/Victorian literature. For example Marianne Dashwood's extreme emotional sensitivity - refined and sensitive women of higher social class were perceived to be at higher risk of mental and physical illness.
No she is not a fast reader and has to be in the right zone. She's a nurse and I think she'll love it and hearing you talkhas confirmed that for me - may e I will get a Library copy and I stigate a buddy read to inspire her! 💜📚
Initially I was a bit hesitant to get this as I don’t do well with memoirs of illness and was worried this would be more personal but, I managed to get a copy cheaply on ebook and am really happy I did now after hearing your review Tilly. It sounds quite broad and more general covering a lot of fascinating ground but I do like it when individual cases are presented, I’m reading a history of the Chinese Cultural Revolution and in a very dense book, individual human example really help. Good to have you back though your empty bookshelves are making me edgy 😉
Hi Jo! Nice to hear from you. Yes I would say this is very much not a memoir, but a work sensitively informed by personal experience. The post-Covid prologue is the only part that felt like a memoir in style. I'd imagine a book on the Chinese Cultural Revolution could indeed be quite dense, and a bit of a bleak read unless handled well. Fear not, there are books for the bookshelves! These are just an upgrade but they need adjusting to fit the space.
I see you have become a minimalist and have sold all your books. Cleghorn is Gaskell's middle name, I call her Elizabeth Foghorn Leghorn Gaskell, I wonder if that is a pen name based on that. It sounds super interesting and lovely cover!
This sounds like such a great book! Lovely to see you back 😊

Thank you!
Ooooh I bought my Mum this for Christmas last year ( or mothers' Day) excited for your thoughts! 💜📚
Did she get the chance to read it yet? I've already recommended it to several colleagues and will be trying to get Ros to read it too.
You sold this one to me thoroughly. I like the format.

Exciting to see a video from you. Are you going to lend it to me?
Absolutely!

I didn't know that about Gaskell. Could possibly be a pen name I suppose! And I loved the cover but my husband found it a bit unnerving.
Tilly clearly watched your video on how to read less Aaron! 😂💜📚
