I first played this game on a “JamPack” as a demo many years ago, an since then I bought this game 4 times. “Cause I lost the disc as a kid” an this is by far the BEST MOST UNDERRATED GAME I every played. This is my favorite game I have ever played on my 24 years of life... I wish they would do a remaster of this game because this game is fucking amazing... Basically, this game was like The Thing except without most of the bugs and sound drops. Like most of the other comments on here, a remaster of this would be sick. The defunct studio, should commission a partnership with Capcom to use their RE Engine or Valve for their Source engine to remaster this. This game to me also, felt like Dino Crisis, Syphon Filter and Resident Evil all bundled. Action and Survival Horror with save rooms as literally replenish spots. You gotta admire the weapon customization as not alot of games at the time, had experimented let alone implemented such a mechanic. Not to mention being able to switch between 2 types of them in REAL TIME.
This game looking back at it really was a huge innovation especially, as you mention with the usage of a combination of weapons on a singular platform. I will also agree that it would be amazing to see this game get a much needed and long awaited remaster.
I believe Sony holds the this licence to game, so unless they gave up the IP or some other company buys it from them. there's no way they can ever do anything with this
Tbf to it, this game has some incredible physics and mechanics in it that seem way ahead of it's time, it was released in 2001 and it has climbing mechanics similar to the first splinter cell games which came later
yeah and it controlled really well for its time as a shooter so even though you were scared like in an RE game it didn't feel cheap when you died as I remember
This game looked amazing back in '01, and the atmosphere it had is still one of the best I've ever seen in a game yet. The atmosphere and setting was far scarier than even the monsters, which was already unnerving on their own. Plus you had the weapons system, with all the attachments, plus watching Roger actually get turned into some mutant in front of you in real time. A completely underrated gem of it's time. The infection system was extremely fucking cool as well, watching your character become more and more infected before actually mutating into a monster as well. Finding out the water, as stupid as it sounds now, was the enemy was actually pretty scary to me. You couldn't trust any puddles or any source of water whatsoever. This game did everything right honestly, why was it such a barely recognized one-off?
me too! i typed in ps2 horror game alien bug lol im 25, and all i could vaguely remember as a blurry memory was the chills i got from this game, the snow, and the biggest thing i remember is the snakey movement of the tails the first bugs you encounter make. i remember the first time i saw it in the demo snaking its tail on the wall i was scared shitless as a little ass kid. i had no idea whaf it was gonna do if i got any closer. adult me always remembered this game giving me a mix between Lost Planet, early Resident Evil, and Dino Crisis vibes. Its such a treat that i found this after not being able to remember the name! i thought itd be impossible with how little i remember 🤣

Oh my God this takes me back. This was the only PS2 game that I had that would work when I finally got one as a young teenager. I never beat it but I remember the first.... two or three hours of this video so vividly.
This was one of those games that I just happened to see on a shelf a knew nothing about it but took a chance on it anyway. I loved it!

Ah, this one! I played this to the end & finished it several times. I loved this game, even though it seriously creeped me out. I still love the part where some dude lets out a guttural scream & Dennis says; "That didn't sound too good..." LOL Memories. This game would be cool in a VR version.

I used to look forward to weekends when I finally had one single day off from fitting pipes at a shipyard. I'd turn my AC down as cold as possible, turn off my phone, and turn off the lights. It was a good way to a spend a weekend, no hangovers the morning after. Back then a good 1 BR apartment was $350/month, now the same type of place is double that.

Are there multiple versions of this? I remember the first tunnel sequence playing out much differently. Even Dennis' voice and hair are different in the version I've played

I remember I picked this game up as a kid thinking it was gonna a cool action game. Then found out it was a horror. Never got past the first chapter. Thank God for let’s plays. Not like I can pick this up and play it now

There’s something I’ll never forget, I used to come back from school and call my father, he was the only one who remembered the codes for Cindy (iykyk what a mission!) and he never wrote them, he just told me every time which is crazy for me.. what’s even crazier is the fact that he remembers these codes till this day and every time when we talk about it we’re agreeing that this game was out ahead of its time
This was my first PS2 game then GTA 3
2022 here. I finally did a deep search to find this, and it happened. I got this in a jampak disc and was always so scared to finish the demo. Always hid in the little office through the crawl space. Now that I've seen it, I'm sad I never bought it. Game looks really well for it's time.

Finally after years of looking for this game I finally found it. Played this on a demo disk and always wanted to know what the game was called. I searched “partner turns into monster PlayStation” and I finally found the game.
The animations look pretty damn good for a game that came out in 2001!
