I grow European Oaks in England but this is a wonderful insight into the Oaks of California

This was very interesting. I'm growing cork oaks and valley oaks from acorns, and I'm growing Shumard oaks that I dug up from a South Bay park. I learned quite a few things from this presentation.

I’m loving watching my oaks grow in at the min I’m at about 2.5 years so far trunks are thickening up quite quickly and are in some relatively big pots to allow for the growth I’m always on the look out for ideas hence why I’m watching but what I am finding is that I’m feeling like making oak tree bonsai’s slightly bigger is the way to go as you see in nature oak trees have generally thick branches making them very good at coping with droughts and for me at the moment I’d love to get them to replicate the real full size tree! also by doing them slightly bigger you won’t have to worry about the leaf size as much.
