    Had no idea this existed until found military surplus rain fly for it. This is my first product from the company.
    Reminds me of the LiteFighter One man combat tent that I’ve had for six months now. Yet, this is much more compact and lightweight. One of the best features that I like a lot are the mesh vents to allow airflow and cut down on condensation buildup. I actually haven’t seen vents built into a rain fly like this previously.
    Will try winter camping as well using large Swiss white poncho to cover inner mesh bed net. Hopefully that’ll hold in enough heat. Finally found myself what looks to be durable pop-up type of sleep system that will keep the critters out. Appreciate you covering it in such detail.

    I really like this item. Purchased one after I saw the Marines go to it. I hunt/camp mainly in southwest so its great weather with little rain so a tent is not really needed. This allows me to sleep without concern of snakes, scorpions or bugs getting in my bedroll while allowing plenty of air and visibility. I do a lot of horseback-mule packing camping where weight is a serious matter....this fits the bill. And in the hunting cabin this lays on top the bunk as well. Well worth the investment.

    Is the rain fly a single door?

    The integrated vent poles is pretty slick.

    I like tents that are completely free standing including the fly. Much easier to use when camping on concrete. I also like to have the ability to see out of the tent in 4 directions without opening the door. If I was in charge, that is what I would order.

      +SanFranciscoBay "camping on concrete" I don't think I've ever heard of that.

      +SanFranciscoBay pretty much all tents are free standing. I camped on concrete when i camped out overnight for a store opening the next morning. - so i didnt peg down. i used a regular tent. it rained. and no, the wind didnt blow me away :). but i HATE not being able to see in all directions :)

    • @sanfranciscobay
      @sanfranciscobay 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I buy and sell quality made used tents. Many of them the vestibules have to be staked, sometimes just the body and vestibule has to be staked. I like tents that are completely free standing including the fly where no stakes are required.

    I like to know when you do some field tests how it holds up in winter. Been looking for a tent system thats quick. Looks light weight too. Couldn't be any heavier that the normal tent's.Ty for showing it opened new options for me

    • @kjumper1
      @kjumper1  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      larry lindsey Well hopefully we get some snow here this year and if so then I will try and get out and do a setup in it. It's a lot lighter than most 1 man tents and it sets up in seconds! Glad to have helped :)

    Great video! Thanks for the upload! You're a bit overexposed in a few shots - you can cut down on that by making sure the sun is behind the camera; rather than bouncing sunlight directly into the lens. Stuff will be easier to read when you hold it up to the camera also (it will follow the focal point faster).

    Question: understand it’s been almost a decade since you put up this video, but if you have the ability it wouldn’t mind taking out a tape measure could you give me the length in inches of that Ridgeline pole? Or, if anyone on here reads my comment and has one could give me the dimensions. I guess I could contact the manufacturer, but they don’t seem to sell the pole separately. I was gonna try taking one of the long poles from an old military surplus one-man combat shelter. I think it would probably work. I know it’s a bit different. Seems like the pole that comes with the rain fly kit for this bed net system has a bit of a 45° bend in a couple areas towards the head and toe.
    Thanks for the great review. I was referred to your video by another TH-camr. I’ll have to go back and check and I’ll post below so you can see that he’s sharing your link. Very nice of them to do so. Either way thanks for your effort I appreciate it. Stay well

    Somehow I do not see that as a "cold weather" option. More of a tropical use one. Curious to know how you made out in the teen/sub teen adventure using this. Would be concerned it would/could melt with a long fire in front of it.

    • @kjumper1
      @kjumper1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mickey Authement It is manageable in cold weather, but you run into a lot of condensation build up. I definitely wouldn't put it close to a fire as it would melt the tent. Overall though it would suffice as a 4 season tent, but was originally designed for hot weather as you had stated.

    These look really good but I have to say by comparison the best lightweight shelter I've yet found is the Zempire Atom 1 person tent: Weighs 3.7 lbs, has more room and has UPF 122f+ degrees ripstop fabric with a 5000mm waterhead rating. Only issue for stealth camping is the fly is a bright yellow! Possibly it could be dyed a coyote brown though?..

    do you think there would be enough room for a small stove under the rainfly if you installed a stove jack?

    • @kjumper1
      @kjumper1  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +alliespopa NO I seriously doubt it. There is pretty much just enough room for a pack and that's about it. If you rigged up a stove you would be sweating to death inside because of the small space. I wouldn't trust a stove inside anything other than a floor less tee pee type of tent and with lots of ventilation. Hope this helped?

    • @mmafan1775
      @mmafan1775 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      These were issued as deployment theater gear. Not standard issue, a battalion deploying to afghanistan would get these for example. Theyre on ebay, a bit hard to find with the rain fly. The one I was issued didnt even come with a rain fly.

    kjumper I'm looking for something like this to take with me on my ranger bass fishing boat for my all night fishing and in case if a downpour something to get into . do you think there is a way to clip the rain fly onto the tent or do you know of something like this that is free standing with clip on rain fly to the tent .

  • @geraldobitts9162
    @geraldobitts9162 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd rather use my snugpak one person mosquito netting and my aqua quest 10ft x 10ft Safari tarp. So I can set upright in the net and tarp you can't do that with them bivi tents. So why buy them if you can't set in them? I own a snugpak ionosphere bivi tent hated it because I couldn't set up in it and felt claustrophobic in it.
    I can set my net up so that I can stand in and move around in it or set it up as low as a bivi tent or in between. And they weigh lighter and pack down smaller and take up less space when combined then the bivi tents do.
