Come on! the pitch wasn't that bad that it can't produce 300 runs.
It was their fielding and bowling, which made a huge impact.
The X factor was the toss which made it easier for Aussies. They made the right call after winning toss. But, Rohit said he would have chosen to bat if he won the toss. This is where I think our basic judgement call was in error. Having chosen to bat, Indian strategy should have been to score 350 at the minimum. It was achievable but for 2 early wickets and failure of Virat and Rahul not to speed up scoring. I saw there was not a 4 for 97 deliveries. For 16 overs. You don't win a match with such defensive strategy. If Virat had lasted for 5 more overs, perhaps we would have put up 300.
Everything went wrong for India after 10 successive wins. But then, there was no excuse for the shoddy fielding. 1st over...15 runs. 2 overs...29 runs. Bumrah got the length and direction after 2 overs....damage already done.
Fielding was sub-par, actually very poor and shoddy. Including Virat who missed the first catch, first ball, through slips, it went for 4. On the contrary, the super catch went to Travis Head who took Rohit's....that was catch of the day....
One point. When we got to 47 for 3, our pacers had some edge. Knowing that the target was small for Aussies, Rohit should have continued with Bumrah and Shami for 2 overs each perhaps. We could have got one or two wickets at that stage, Aussies would have been under tremendous pressure. I am sure this aspect would be discussed in the coming days.
Once you lose the rhythm, coming back after 5 overs with unhelpful pitch, your chances were slim. This is my assessment.
Why are people not talking about Rohit 's defensive mindset in middle overs when spinners were balling in middle over,Travis head and marnus labuchagne got edged and ball passed through the slip for four but no slip fielder were placed.rohit should place attacking fielding set to take those chances.with defensive mind set wc final can't be won.rohit brought swami in new ball instead of siraj but we saw siraj more dangerous with new ball and shami was more dangerous in old ball.remember how indian defended 220 in Sl on asia cup with attacking fielding set??rohit need to attack travis and labuchagne with proper fielders at slip so that both batsman would try to play by going out of their comfort zone and do something others.easy singles at the middle over costed much more

Australian were always one step Ahead when it comes to playing with India in knockouts 2003 Final 2015 Semi final 2023 Wtc final and now this World cup final. First 10 overs 86 runs after rohit got out .In 240 balls only 160 we made and kl rahul played 107 ball out of 240 balls and scored only 66 runs .we lost here .we should have made 6 runs per over. Kl rahul played 18 overs and scored only 66 runs not even 90 strike rate can you imagine.

Reasons Why India lost!
1) Only 4 boundries between 10 to 50 overs. This is the the main reason India lost. You don't have to play so defensively!
2) Set batsmen threw their wickets.
Kohli was set at 54 little mistake and gone! I don't blame Rohit because he was playing the same way whole tournament. Then comes Rahul 66 runs in 107 balls. He thought to accelerate in last 10 overs but got out in 41.3 overs.
We never come in the mode of hitting only situation. Last hope Surya also failed to score those extra 30 runs in last 4 overs! So all set batsmen were playing slowly and then giving their wickets!
3) This pitch was not for 400 runs total. Do you get this? India played like let's score 400 fastly but it was 300 Runs pitch. We should not have thrown so much wickets in the beginning and played like chasing 300 runs!
Silly Bhajji was saying that Aus made mistake by bowling first but the truth is that Aussies did read the pitch better than Indians. This pitch does play better in second innings, Eng vs NZ, Sa vs Afg are the proofs.

Rohit & Travis head both had the same role in the top order... But Travis changed his game according to the situation, that's what Rohit had to do after shubman Gill's wicket.
Vikrant Sir is right I have seen the highlights again yes the bowling was good but there were some ordinary deliveries as well and still they didn't come out of shell and play shorts and it was all cause of fear of failure and pressure period.

I think this is the problem, too many peoples are emotionally attached to cricket in India, this creates enormous pressure on the Indian team, Australian public is not going to celebrate wildly if their team win world cup, or will cry if their team loses, less pressure on the Australian team compare to India, they are not scared of failure.
Team India played well, they are the best. We as citizens (specially parents) need to develop sports culture by investing time and money on our future generation.

No it wasn't, this is why you gotta dig a little more deeper before analyzing and blaming a specific player, agar Rahul jaldi wicket kho baitta maarne ke chakkar main, lene ke dene pad jate bhai, we wouldn't have reached 180-190 too, I think he did not trust Surya and Jaddu and if I were him I too wouldn't have, second we lost crucial wickets at crucial intervals which pulled us back further, should've preserved Iyer for the last 10 overs and sent KL, so that these guys could play more freely, exposing that rubbish technique at that juncture proved costly for India, KL couldn't go for big hits and as and when we started doing well, we lost Virat and Jaddu, in the hindsight that was a good innings similar to Marnus where he tried preserving wickets to go after them in the last 10 overs and that unfortunately was cut short by that spitting delivery by Starc, game awareness is important before you make any comments!
