there are no words to describe how hard derek’s death hit me. it KILLED me. and this is coming from a person who never cries for fictional characters, i was totally fine throughout all of titanic, harry potter, the hunger games, and bridge to terebithia but derek’s death had me bawling me eyes out and i still cry anytime i see an edit like this.
I understand. To be fair, it's a series that lasted what, 20 seasons? 20 YEARS? And I believe it might still be running, even now in 2024. Whether we binge a season in a week or matter of days or when we watched week by week on the TV, it's a daily, regular part of our lives, shows like that. I felt this way about Shameless, Grey's, House, and maybe a handful of others. But this show is truly great. Truly beautiful and heartbreaking.
The way riggs looked up from his phone because he knew this was an emotional subject for her. They were so good together i wish they could have stayed together.
I’m convinced the memory of Derek scared rodes (her love interest at this time) away. He was a good man/character but I don’t think he could have lived up to Derek the way the new guy in current seasons does. He wasn’t ready.

I'm assuming those who are watching this clip and reading the comments either already know what's up or wants to be spoiled, warned ya. I hated Derek for taking every opportunity he can while abandoning his peers (for example Callie when he got called by the President, I know they have settled it but think about what would happen if they didn't.) but he was good for Mer and he was an amazing father and an amazing surgeon. My hate for him before switched to love and now I hate Shonda for writing him off. And whenever I remember that Meredith only took about a year and few months to move on and date after he died hurts EVEN MORE, considering how long they've been together and the writer just didn't even let Mer have much flashbacks but just talk to a therapist about it. 💔
