The Aston does look amazing value, probably fairly costly to run but wow very tempting ! It certainly like the old days when you brought older cars because you could not afford new ones! I do get the rareness, I get the 90s 00s rally car vibe, and now the in period young fans are grown up and can afford them, but I really just can’t see it, the old adage ‘something is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it’ common sense must cut in at some point, it’s not yet but It just beggars belief really
Totally agree. In 15yrs time those with the money to buy a high end car collection won’t have heard of Tommi Mäkinen or be that aware of the Evo back in the day so the demand will fade. However like Ferrari and Lambo a Halo Aston will find it’s feet as time passes. Only 350 U.K. Vanquish built and when they consider it’s the last NA V12 and the entire body is carbon fibre it makes it quite special. Interestingly the 6spd in the video is £70k the 8spd still £90-100k the S £125k and S Ultimate £165k plus still
I’ve got the Vanquish and love it. I never got it as an investment and don’t care in terms of that. It was for the pure emotion it stirs and the joy it brings seeing it and hearing the glorious V12.
In theory it's very easy to say "I'm not going to choose the car I'm going to enjoy as an investment". In the real world with my own money? It's a tougher decision than that. To not lose money on a car is no bad thing, but to double it....hmmm..... i think I'd plan to buy the Evo and then last minute drive right by it and get the Aston.
The Vanquish is a lovely car. Who would have none that two 3litre Ford Mondeo St engine's welded together would sound so nice. 👌 I love the Evo TM. I owed one for 7months years ago when they were much cheaper. I paid £8700 for it and sold it for near the same money. I could only just about afford the car. After I got hit with the service bill, the car had to go! Both are great cars. The Aston looks great, I love the wider stance of the rear wheels they look at least half a foot wider than the fronts. To sum it up... the evo is the bouncers car and the Aston is the bar owners cars.. Both epic cars and both are good buys for the future 👌
I would get the Aston and if i really needed some rally vibe get an Impreza type UK, had two of these and they are great, now seriously looking at a Vanquish S Volante.
Aston everyday of the week. Vanquish is great value at the moment. Do we really think that EVO will go up another 60k on top of the 150. Crazy money if it does especially when you think what you could buy for the money.
If people bought cars as an investment they would never buy new cars or any cars that loses value the minute it is driven off the forecourt or any cars that they actually like.
I love the Mitsubishi, but it looks like it should be about £10-20k and I don't really care that it is "EVO TME RS" tbh, it's still 95% the same as a normal Evo. As an investment, the Aston feels safer in the short term as the Evo seems about double what it should be. However, if electric keeps pushing ahead I can see a future where anything that isn't ultra rare/collector will tank in value, and given how rare that Evo is that might be a safer bet in the long term.

Agreed! I feel the same about my Rapide S. Want to get a Vanquish in a few years as a summer car.
No contest Aston all day! Think I would genuinely enjoy the miles more in the Aston and if it held it’s money happy days!
I drove an Evo 5 GSR back in about 95/96 and was blown away by how capable and quick it was. The Makkinen EVO6 must be sublime.👍👍
A rally fascinating comparison on value.
I just can’t help but be beguiled by the looks of the Vanquish. Definitely a car that I hope to owen day.
I would go Vanquish but 100% the Makkinen if you want to invest. Vanquish is very sexy!
Love both - cannot decide!

Going with the Aston. It's a keeper.
I think the Vanquish is going to explode as one of the last V12.
Vanquish but the Evo is special

Vanquish looks so good! Volante 👏

Ive got other investments, so the Vanquish every day for me (or a DBS Superleggera).
A vanquish about 90k
This one is on the market for 68k at VVS today
