    This is very comforting for me, who was feeling it tragic to have small hands.

      I won’t lie - having big hands really helps in both classical and jazz piano, but in jazz piano there are many workarounds!

    Thank you Jeremy Garbanzo!
    I realize that I can use Jeremy’s ideas to practice these 3 options in 2•5•1 (or each appropriate chord individually) in 12 keys until you can find them instantly eyes closed. A fun winter break project for my son and myself!
    Also gotta be good for applying to some jazz standards!

    Nice and clear. Very helpful for understanding altered chords and scales.

    I always look enviously at those who effortlessly play with a span of fingers reaching well over nine white keys. I am already having problems with a span of one octave if I need to play four tones in a chord. Can I ever play jazz, Jeremy?

    For the change bass section, i often use the third as a bass so it would be: A Eb C its stilla tenth but a more reacheable one

    • @JeremySiskind
      @JeremySiskind  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm, that helps a little bit but causes another problem (a different tenth!). I’m going to play around with that, though!

      @@JeremySiskind yes, i find it usefull for big tenth like D7 or Bb7

      Plus, you can trade the b7 for the fifth, most of the time it get the works done!

    I remember when I was shown that I didn't need to play 'above' the keys with my right hand and I could reach a tenth in my right hand by playing slightly 'off' the keys. Was a real eye-opening tip for me, much like this vid. Garbanzo beans.

    It was C-flat and we already know you must be a masochist to do all this for us! Thanks, I feel full of beans with all these options!

    Are there any examples of great solo piano that don’t have harmonic tenths?

    • @JeremySiskind
      @JeremySiskind  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sure there are! A lot of Bill Evans' playing doesn't use big intervals (although some of it definitely does as well).

    just make smaller pianos already!

      American standard pianos, such as Wurlitzer, might be a good alternative due to their shorter key spacing.
