I picked up an 86 87 registered model for beer money. It was running badly, with lots of ominous noises. But the body condition was 7 out of 10. Just what I wanted. Some thing I could do an engine rebuild on without having to do any cosmetic work. Not a restoration. Just a project. That was 12 or more years ago. The engine "work" was mainly diagnostic. The results of which lead to changing the carbs from Hitachi to mikuni and a new starter solenoid, regulator/rectifier and plugs. Oil change. And she became a good looking reliable every day ride. A gift from the gods actually. Minimal investment, maximum return.
I bought a 1989 Virago brand new and nothing ever broke on that bike. I put over 12,000 miles a year on it and it ran like a locomotive down a mountain. No Harleys could keep up with that Virago, it's quicker, lighter, and way more comfortable.
I just put a deposit down on a 93 Virago 1100 yesterday... Going to check it out and most likely buy it today. Has 30k miles and the dealership wants $1600 for it plus it had a lot of stuff just recently done to it.
Hey guys thanks for the content. After reviewing your videos I bought myself a 96 virago 750 and I'm in love. If it wasnt for you guys I would of probably been having buyers remorse. I got my bike local right in lititz pa. Thanks for the videos guys. God bless you all and safe travels. 🙏
There’s a 85 virago 1000 with 1100 miles for sale near me for $900 good condition but I’ve only ridden dirt bikes before, that would be too much power for me wouldn’t it?
This bike should be fantastic custom cruiser if Yamaha , here , didn't make a huge mistake !!! What a funny forks angle , and front open frame ! Beside , seats looks efin confort ! Looks like they had lot of Sake before they made a plans ! Plus , weak drum rear brake !
535 cc 44 hp underpowered ? I havent seen any bike with these specs. Also it's smaller and lighter than the other bikes (like v star, dragstar, honda shadow etc.)..
Asakura834 well maybe I wasn't descriptive enough I should put this into context . When I said it's a good ride I was referring to Metropolitan riding with the odd freeway run.for that purpose it's ideal. I am a lifestyle rider. Two wheels being my primary year round mode of travel. I live in a big country. The nearest interstate capital city being a minimum of 30 hours riding. When overtaking some thing like a road train. You need to just twist the throttle and go when it's clear. Not have to wait till the motor builds up power. The 1100 is better than the 535 in that it only weights 220 kgs is as nimble as the 535 and is the easiest bike to handle in it's class. It is a far more capable all rounder than my Harley. For a slightly higher cost than a 535 it gives all the benefits of the 535 plus an awful lot more. A 535 will get you from A to Z. The 1100 does the same but also gets your heart pumping.
Had a variety of bikes over the years including a 96 XV1100s which I sold 5 years ago. Currently have 2 BMW's ,a K1200LT and R1150GSA , just purchased a pristine 97 Virago 1100 special with only 28550 Klm on it . They are a light weight , mid powered comfortable , mechanically bullet proof cruiser that I find a pleasure to ride . Plenty of chrome parts , very presentable , this one I'll keep .( along with the Beemer's ) ,cheers
Had my 1100 for 29 yrs now. Still looks and runs like a dream ❤️😎

Been a month but definitely not. Just be easy on the throttle on any bike and you should be fine and learn.
My very first bike was a Yamaha virago 750. My next one after that was an 1100. I think my next bike is going to be a raider, 1900.
It’s not in the SRK inventory
What do you use to shine the chrome?

Look up the definition of Virago.... "Loud mouth obnoxious woman" really look it up!
lol I just did, and I own a virago. lol I think this bike was made for me.
Also means ( LATIN ) Female Warrior
Katie Flohr I think I'm going to get one for beginning, how do you like it?
Highly recommend it. Great bike, shaft drive means lower maintenance. But the oil window is in a stupid place. Lol
