Good Day Mr Bin Your video (357) on from (22:16 - 22:46) 1. How do you place a loaded family(Beam or Timber ) to have 2 Adaptive points at the end points and be able to control it like in your video(357). In your video you make family between 2 Adaptive points,but i would like to instead load an existing family. the reason is that i want that family to have all the properties that come with original revit properties example be able to shedule them with the correct category. i tried attaching a loaded family but it does not flex . It moves the entire family instead of adjusting the length both sides and up and down. when i use constraints they break when i move adjust/move the timber(M_Glulam Southeren pine).
I believe you can do that. Here are the steps: 1. set your family so that all the parameters are Instance Parameter. 2. Create a new adaptive family with 2 adaptive points, create a reference line between them. 3. Add dimension to the 2 adaptive points, and create reporting parameter. 4. Load your family into adaptive family, and place on work plane of the reference line. You might need to set the properties of your family to be work-plane base, and uncheck always vertical. 5. Link your parameter of your family to the reporting parameter of the adaptive family. Constraint the family to the adaptive points or reference line if required. I think this should work. I will do a video later... maybe next week.

What im trying to do is a custom truss, that i can load using Dynamo. The thing is Revit Existing trusses are a pain to work with because the joins are not proper according to my liking. In South Africa small construction use nails to join truss member on top of each other. I want to create a scheduled truss and its members, and ability to do different truss joins options, is somewhat a long project. your help will be great. thanks again.
I tried it Still same problem. i fail step4 and 5 on how to implement that properly. The entire Timber(beam) moves instead of shape handle of the family, so that when i pull the adaptive left or right it increases the lenghth of beam ie shape handle is sync/locked to either side of the adaptive point. but when i move the adaptive point up the side also goes up, so that when i place it nesting it to a triangle of an adaptive component it flex accordingly following the point of a triangle. and the inside members that i wil be placing point to point to creat my truss.
i just realised i need a formula to do the insides members,not easy as i thought. im going to try doing adaptive points over adaptive points to fill the inside members.
