It’s a shame no one else truly figured out how to emulate these bass sounds with Native Instruments: FM8. There were artists like Barely Alive that got close but most of these were made with wave tables in Massive rather than straight FM Synthesis. (Serum wouldn’t be released for another several years)
ehh, with fm synths its really hard to get an exact replica and also the base will sound different in the mix. so just recreating the bass without the rest of the track robably wont sound exactly the same. that being said there are a ton of people who have made very similar patches.
people think he did everything only with fm8, but he always says the patches end up pretty simple and after he consolidates them he does all the processing. the sauce is in the processing. i saw this kid that got the really close sounds using his vocals instead of fm8 and it sounds great
Those growls was done by Noisia, when Skrillex accidentally deleted the presets he has never been using them. Moral of the story: Skrillex is just a puppet

There is a Discord server that is recreating his old sounds. You'll find it easily on TH-cam. It's called The Lost Skrillex Growl.
