Oh yeah you know a lot of jazz musicians or people who want to get into jazz. Some of them are like attracted to the most outside line I suppose to like the language of playing jazz inside the harmony
Yeah I like that song. You know Bebop comes out of the American songbook and blues and then that's kind of more. Even eighth notes you know. Funny for me. I consider myself a jazz musician and stretch out from there before I play though
It's amazing how many videos I'm finding where his guitar still has that toothbrush holding the strap on: th-cam.com/video/m8UAdGSZzt4/w-d-xo.html At 10:43 he explains about it to the host. It must've taken quite awhile to get that sucker fixed.
Funny enough, when I saw him earlier this month I noticed that he had a Ticonderoga #2 pencil on one of his Ibanez guitars holding his strap the same way the toothbrush did haha
I've been trying to figure this out for YEARS- Am I the ONLY one that's ever noticed on the CD track of 'James' at about 4:08 into the song, there is a GLITCH in Lyle Mays' piano solo?? I never noticed this on the original vinyl record when I had it- but EVERYWHERE else I hear the CD rip from the ECM album, this glitch is there. How does one get the glitch-free version?
Gotta love Brecker very obviously sight reading through the melody lol
Pat always said no reading on the band stand... Brecker gets special privileges hahah
The bass player is incredible. No obvious sight reading on his part.

Capolavoro
@6:39 - 'The Lick'
Steven R not quite, it's a note off but if you look in "everyday I thank you" from the same performance there is a proper one at some point
