I actually love that it doesn't have push button start. I'm not a fan of push button start in any vehicle. Too easy to have your car stolen by someone picking up your signal on your proximity key. I wish car manufacturers never made it a thing.
I purchased a 2016 GMC Canyon new, It was to be my retirement truck after owning over a dozen trucks for work and personal use. I find a midsize truck works best for my present needs. At the 22,000 mile mark I started having several large electronic repair issues. I finally gave up at 24,000 miles and traded it for the 2019 Nissan Frontier which is my current truck. I have found the Frontier to be the better vehicle.
I am leasing this truck in white right now, and it came with the running boards. I love it.. its a great everyday vehicle and pretty decent on fuel... even in the city! I find that there is more than enough room in the interior, and not having the keyless entry/start doesn't bother me at all ! I used to have the keyless entry/start on my vehicle before this, and I hated it. Sometimes the vehicle wouldn't register the fob, and I had to get out and back in the car. I'll take a key start any day. Its a sharp looking truck for anyone just looking for a nice ride with towing capabilities and a box, or if you like to go off roading.
Nice truck, with some missing comforts. The one that gets me is the manual rear slider. I am always opening that window when I drive. I need that to be power.
@@jonathanwilliam980 The Tacoma does. Maybe not the base but I had a 17 TRD sport that had it. Now I’m in a 4Runner and get even more of a breeze from the back window 😊
The appropriate comparison would be the Z71, FX4, and TRD Off Road trims on the other midsizes (maybe a base Gladiator). If you get the AT4 in cloth without a bunch of unneeded options, it currently shows a $3k cash allowance, for a net asking price of about $37k. A un-optioned ZR2 would be $5k more, and probably harder to bargain on. If the interior is cramped, then you should be shopping fullsizes. This seems competitive to its appropriate competition, with better tires, and the air dam sounds easily removable.
Thanks Joe for the honest review. It looks nice and I was interested, but not so much now. I like my tech gadgets and this truck misses the mark especially with that MSRP.
Just bought a 2022 GMC Canyon AT4. Im not an off roader by any means. I mainly wanted it for driving thru fields at the local tracks for parking, maybe getting over the curbs when allowed to park on the grassy areas at the local stadiums and getting me home when it snows alots.
Always love your midsize truck reviews. As far as the Canyon AT4 goes, it may look good to the eye, but there’s no way it’s a true off road truck. The air dam alone tells me GMC isn’t serious. Anyway...great video as always!
As a 2020 Canyon owner I agree with your sentiment regarding the AT4. It's more of an on pavement truck with off-road tires. I chose the SLE Elevation since I don't need an off-roader. It's a great all around truck for the road. If it's going off-road the air dam is easy to remove.
Black may look nice Joe but down south this is a no go for me too hot. I don't have issues with the key or the lumbar support as many people do but the multi-pro tailgate thats on the Sierra would be nice on this.

Wish you'd focus more on the truck features rather than stuff like leather stitching and snack storage. It is sad that here we have a truck review, and the max payload and towing sticker is not shown, payload is not mentioned at all, towing just briefly mentioned, etc. AT4 has the identical setup as Z71, the main difference is that the tires are slightly larger so it has more ground clearance and is slightly better for the offroad, but costs a little more. And yes, the manual says to remove the air dam for the offroad, and unlike Z71, they made it here much easier to remove the air dam.
Canyon/ Colorado great trucks for mid size. Nice smooth quiet ride better than any SUVs I found out while shopping for one . I have a ZR2 but think would go back with full sized truck cause like the V8

Its a nice truck, better than the ranger (in my opinion), but it could definitely use some updates. Id strongly consider this if I was in the market for a mid size truck.
It looks good but at that price it’s lacking some things that should be standard. Too many zonks for me. These mid-sized trucks are nearly the size of what full size trucks used to be. Thanks for sharing it Joe. Nice job! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
