Thanks mate. It's a long slog pulling it down, but will mean I can get good access to fix the frame and do the job properly. It also allows close inspection of all the bushes and bearings. Cheers
The Yamaha guy who designed the front diff angle is the same guy who designs saxophones and bassoons. He gave it that musical instrument bend and style.
From the corrosion all over, looks like it was used to launch a boat in salt water? Might be a good idea to check for green death in all the wiring connectors, as you strip the frame?
I don't think it's been near saltwater....it's just like everything up here in the NT, unloved, unmaintained and cycles of burning hot sun humidity and torrential rain. Yes I have begun inspecting the looms and plugs and there is some work required there too. Thanks for commenting.

I say trust the Yamaha engineers mate, with the angle/s of the uni joint being so obvious I'm sure during R&D it was addressed thoroughly. By the way, we had a whole weekend of rain where I'm from in NSW so I spent the weekend working on my Timberwolf that I mentioned! I replaced starter motor brushes, dressed the commutator, cleaned out the carb and made some fine adjustments. Now it's running like a champ! First time in 15+ years!
