The day before the "plane" hit the Pentagon, Rumsfeld held a press conference to let everyone know that BILLIONS of dollars were unaccounted for but was being searched for. When the missile hit the building, I mean "plane," it destroyed the room that was supporting the money search. As a result, that money was never found. Isn't that an amazing coincidence. Wow this was an awesome episode! I really enjoyed it. Funny thing, I quite literally just posted a comment on a different TH-cam video a couple days ago talking about LEAN manufacturing (1:31:50) ("International Legion for the Defence of Ukraine channel" video titled "The Bloodiest Battle of the Chosen Company | Pt.2" which YOU should definitely check out for anyone interested because it is perhaps some of the most insane modern combat footage I have EVER SEEN!), and the correlations between that and the military/war and how I believe that if it was incorporated into the military or team guys in particular it would be greatly beneficial in so many ways...! The following is just a portion of that comment I am referencing:
" There is something called LEAN in the manufacturing business mostly found in factory work and it is defined as the following: (Lean is defined as a set of management practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness by eliminating waste. The core principle of lean is to reduce and eliminate non-value adding activities and waste.) It is further categorized into the 5 following principles: (1. Defining Value, 2. Value stream mapping, 3. Creating flow, 4. Establishing pull, 5. Continuous Improvement) with the 8 major wastes being the following: (1. Defects, 2. Overproduction, 3. Waiting, 4. Non-utilized talent, 5. Transportation, 6. Inventory, 7. Motion, 8. Extra-processing) There is also something called 2 second LEAN as well which basically means to fix what bugs you by shaving off 2 seconds everyday on a daily task you already do and that you are responsible for conducting in your line of work. The reason I bring this up is because if people applied this to combat I REALLY feel like these principles would be greatly beneficial to any team deployed in the field by reducing the time it takes to do anything better or faster. I would encourage any and every soldier to find the correlational between the two, that being LEAN manufacturing and war cause at the end of the day your there to manufacture death. Just fruit for thought. Cheer's Boy'z, Slava Ukraine!"
Truly ironic! Glad to see the US Army agrees. I am a former 19 Delta Cav Scout and I had know idea but then again I was in around 2008 so I'm unsure if they were applying it at the time.

Being a senior engineering project manager I can relate to the sickening sub-optimization (or status quo if you will). In big organizations (even private) they're there.
Makes me sick the the guts and genuinely angry. It actually made me somewhat political because we (the inventors, or perhaps "idealists") need to adjust, rework, strategize and beat those popes on their own turf.
But yeah, it's basic instincts those dinosaurs are working with and it helps understanding micro-macro groups and leadership psychology.

The West made a significant error in assuming they could implement changes in Afghanistan. This resulted in 20 years of futile fighting, leading to the loss of US/NATO and allied soldiers, only to return to the initial situation with the Taliban back in power and their harsh rule nearly restored. The West (US/EU/Western nations and allies) must recognize that it is impossible to alter something that is ingrained in the very essence of existence, culture, and habits; it simply does not work, and the recent Western failure in Afghanistan is proof of that. The West cannot fight for women's rights in that society; they must reach that conclusion and fight for it themselves. The same applies to other areas of progress, such as education, agriculture, and urban development. If the Afghans themselves do not want to embrace change and continue their current way of life, the West has done nothing but waste money and fuel corruption, local tribal lords, and warlords, as well as inadvertently funding the terrorism they aimed to combat. It has been a total failure on behalf of the US, EU, NATO, and Western powers and allies.

I really liked his honesty and his ability to be humble and not seem like he had to make himself seem like this big bad ass tough guy super soldier and instead was straight up honest about himself as he was coming up through his beginning/training of his time in the military. To things like knowing he wasnt really confident in himself in a sense to want to go to ranger school.
