I was confused by it too. It's way different than American English. It's breakfast lunch and dinner, dinner is dinner and not lunch. No fancy tea times and no one uses supper.

@@PointofView I am from Canada, but my mom's boyfriend is from Newfoundland which is a part of Canada, except it is still very British- so the boyfriend has weird ways of defining dinner and supper and lunch too- we've got into very confused disagreements when I say supper, because he'll think I mean dinner- or I'll say dinner and he'll think I mean lunch. Stuff like that, I'm always confused! And Sunday is VERY confusing because what I, and most English-speaking people (outside of Britain) call 'dinner' - as in your last meal of the day, around 5-8 pm, he wants to have at like... 1 pm on Sunday!
Did you ever do the comparison video? I'd love to see it! If it's in Thai I can put on English subtitles. I really like your voice, by the way!

In Malaysia we use the same word Breakfast. Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, Supper, Tea, since we were a British colony. But we differentiate it much easier.
Breakfast - Morning, first meal of the day
Brunch - Between Breakfast and Lunch
Lunch - Noon or Mid-day meal (about 12-2pm)
Tea - small snack afternoon (about 3-5pm)
Dinner - Meal at the end of the day (roughly 6pm-8pm)
Supper - Snacks after dinner time, normally about 10pm onwards
You can skip any of them or have all of them, but Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner is what most people have.

Watching them explain this to me was beyond confusing, and I'm a native English speaker. I can't imagine this made sense to anyone except English people, maybe Scottish, Irish, and Welsh too, but that's it.

I am an American... I have spoken English for my 36 years on this planet (almost 37)... I understood what they were saying about dinner etc., but it is still overly complicated for anyone not British lol. Like, I would probably get that mixed up a bit as well, so I can imagine someone trying to explain all those nuances to me in a second language, poor girl, that was worse that making her eat Marmite. lol

I think for people new to marmite or the Australian version vegemite, try to think of it as a soy sauce paste. For beginners beginner I’d recommend using much less than shown in this video..think of very sheer smear. Other than butter, we can also eat it with cheese on bread or avocado on bread (or crisp bread alternative)

Josh’s wife, Gabie, likes marmite. They didn’t really describe it more than that it’s made from yeast, but actually it’s the leftover yeast after making beer, so it’s not going to be like if you just tasted yeast from a fresh package of yeast. Extra tip: it helps with milk production if you’re breastfeeding!

Whoa the English have it confusing with the dinner/supper thing eh? I grew up here in the US with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sometimes it was breakfast, lunch and supper but dinner and supper meant the same thing aka the main meal in the evening, usually eaten anywhere from 5 to 7pm. Brunch was a meal if you skipped breakfast and it was too early for lunch. Also it is a bit of a generational thing here because my Grandma always said breakfast, dinner and supper with dinner being another word for lunch and supper being the main evening meal. Its sort of gradually morphed over the last 100 years I think to breakfast, lunch and dinner than breakfast, dinner and supper. We don't have tea here but there could be an after dinner snack around 8-10pm of maybe ice cream or popcorn.

In Malaysia, we use marmite in porridge or using it to make marmite soup but not eat it with bread.
