Reclining Buddha & WAT Thammikarat

Riclining Buddha( Wat Lokaya Sutha) " THE TEMPLE OF THE EARTH" is located near the North West tip of the Historical Island near the Old Palace and Wat Phra Si Sanphet @ Ayuthaya Thailand.
It was built around 1995, this temple has the largest Reclining Buddha image in Island Of Ayutthaya.Enshrined in an out door brick building with a lenght if 42 meters and 8 meteres high.
Wat Thammikarat just few minutes away from the Reclining Buddha, it is believed that this was build during 14th Century.
The Royal Chroniclesof Ayuthaya mention Wat Thammikarat in passing at least once. IT was here that the rebilious Prince Si Sin was placed in a sort of house arrest during the rule of the King Cakkraphat md 16th Century.When he was of an age of a monk,but he it was found he had escaped 3 days prior. But he was found later and was able to gather number of followers stormed the Royal Palace, forcing the King to flee for his life by barge.However, the rebillion was soon faltered and and Si Sin was killed by a firearm.
Although Wat Thammikarat was damaged during Burmese sack of the city in 1767 enough to survive the temple to testify the grandeur.
