First time watching the boardwalk empire (reaction) - บันเทิง
The guy that designed and made the customs(suits) is gonna do an appearance on the show in season 2, he might actually appear in the series before that idk tho
yea, the arnold rothstein thing is true, there are movies about it, 'eight men out' is one, 'field of dreams' references it a lot, basically Arnold payed 8 players of the white sox to throw the world series in 1919....the quote the commenter made was from one of the greatest movies of all time, i don't know if you have seen it, its not really a spoiler, more of a throw away line, but i don't want to give specifics
yea from godfather 2 havent seen it in a while so i need to rewatch that goat movie
Happy to hear my comment read aloud! Lol it was a quote from a very famous gangster movie that I'm hoping you will watch soon if you haven't already! I can't speak to the historical accuracy of the claim but I'm pretty sure the real life Rothstein was questioned about the scandal
Isn't it funny how the guy who played General Zod in Man of Steel is in this as a religious federal agent?
F. Scott Fitzgerald met Arnold Rothstein in real life and based his Great Gatsby character Meyer Wolfsheim on him. Gatsby introduces Meyer as someone who made his fortune in illegal activities and helped to fix the 1919 World Series.
Or or , look up Meyer Lansky.
ELIE, there's a film called "Eight Men Out", it tells the whole story of how the 1919 World series was fixed!!!
If you know the film Field of Dreams, Shoeless Joe Jackson was one of the eight members that were thrown out of baseball. But Shoeless Joe did not take the bribe!!
Anyway that's a good film to get some background about that event!!!
There's considerable evidence (testimony of his wife and his bank amongst it) that he took the money. Not as much as promised, but transactional, nonetheless. The argument, tenuous as it is, has always been what, if anything, did he do to manifestly throw the games. And the answer is, not much. But he did take money. And Eight Men Out *_is_* a fantastic John Sayles film.
Elie my mainest man, did not know what to comment so i made this one.
15:29 The term you're looking for is "Flappers". Lol jk. Maybe.
The women like Margaret and the others would most like by referred to politely, though still disdainfully, as "kept women". Concubine would be more a direct, but coarser, descriptor.
The women were concubines
Jimmy Is a dysfunctional character overall... (IMO) Who tries to do well but also far too naive to comprehend how he Is really becoming perceived with his own reputation In the long run, He only can look outwards, Not Inwards.
Young Ellie! This woman treated Margaret like trash when she worked for her. She had the audacity to ask her for a favor when she is about to lose her shop. She sells expensive women's attire. Those children's items are probably the cheapest things in the shop. When somebody does you a huge favor like this, you return the favor by finding out what they might like. She should have let her have a dress of her choosing. Margeret has Nucky. She doesn't need her FAKE kindness since she can now afford to buy the whole store if she chooses. It's called standing up for yourself.
You would really love the Americans. Watch the trailer if you can. Its about Russians spies pretending to be Americans. Its also a time piece.
