At 20(May 2001) shortly after my birthday, I realized I didn’t want anything but my 4C hair. So I would do what is now known as a twist out. My hair was fine in college, but in the “real” world, my “real” hair was not enough. But I wouldn’t budge because I refuse to cover my ancestry and bend at the waist of “respectability”. I locked my hair over 15 years ago, and at 41, I absolutely love seeing my reflection in the younger generation who embrace THEIR choice, from locks to a lace front, I want my fellow queens to have the freedom of expression ❤

I love this topic!! one of my school friends had locs and they were beautiful and long he went to apply for a job at a car dealership and they told him he would have to cut his hair because they company had a hair policy my friend cut his beautiful locs to better his financial situation and after they end up not giving him the job he was so heart broken because he cut his hair he made a promise to hisself that he will never sacrifice himself again because his hair was apart of his identity

My hair has been natural since 2000. I cut all of my hair off my 11th grade year in high school. I did go through the "ugly phase" or trying to figure out what I'm going to do with my hair after the "big chop." I only call it this phase, because it was not the best look for me. I started growing my locs in 2004 while in college. It has been the best decision and journey for me. I wear my crown with confidence and understanding that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Never would I have imagined having hair past my butt. My locs are long, luxurious and beautiful. I am elated that I found beauty my way.
