Question : Who survived? Answer: KatyDID....and so did the pigs and hyenas grunting in the background along with the trumpeting elephants and growling tigers
Right. If the mantis had been large enough to wrap its claws around the katydid, it probably would have won. In this case, the katydid was the one large enough to wrap its claws around the mantis.
Because every single time a katydid lost it was fighting an impossible battle. Those were battles where almost nothing could have survived, katydid or not.
I remember one summer I caught a mantis and put a katydid in the tank with it . I had know idea at the time that the katydid was aggressive. The katydid attached the mantis and it was like wrestle mania .They slung each other from one end of the tank to the other .However the mantis won the battle .

john rollins r u brain dead? The mantis and katydid displayed in the video are of about average, but i bet the katydid at maximum size will also defeat the mantis at max size

Rock Spider and the Brazilian Wandering Spider Vs. Hooded Mantis but even still 1 1/2 inches is only 75% of 2 inches and 4 inches is only 80% of 5 inches so it really is quite disproportionate. The narrator has a great voice and dramatic inflections. The katydid had considerably more body mass, with the big, powerful, armored head and mandibles. I have been watching these Bug wars episode for the last few weeks..I must say these are just AMAZING!!!... i do agree there are some some mismatch-Predator vs prey ..but most of the episodes are very entertaining and very informative too. Some of the creatures we seen on this channel i never heard before..I thought Katytids very vegeterian lol
easily not a fair fight. the katydid is a much larger, heavier, better armored and has more brute force. on top of that it moves just as fast if not faster than the mantis. the mantis is a very brave and intelligent animal, but in a fight like this the victor is too obvious. maybe if the two were the same size it would have been are fairer battle. not an even match up.
damn, there's nothing left but the wings and an single leg leftover! I'm guessing the Katydid was full, otherwise that last morsul of a leg would have been eaten also! I didn't think the Praying mantis would have gotten beat up and killed so easily, considering the Katydid's gets its ass handed to him every time when it goes against a Spider. I always go for the Katydid, but when a Praying mantis is involved, my bets on him!

I personally like the sound effects gives the fight a more dramatic feel.
Super threatening
“It looks like a leaf”
cmon that wasnt a fair fight!
Headwick1 there’s more
Yes it was but also there is no fair fight on the animal or insects and bugs life
Yep, there is no such thing as fair fight with the bug kingdom, unlike us, they usually go for the element of surprise, and killing then as Fast as possible. If a predatory bug tries to eat something they try to eating it immediately
2 doctorates commenting on insects, massive sound effects, can't we get celebrity voice overs for the insects? Tom Hanks, "i got ya, now i'm gonna eat ya!"
I died laughing at 1:56 🤣
Those noises are totally added in
"Some bug fights are one sided"
Ants: *cough* I don't know what he's talking about
Wasps: Hehehehe...
Me: Wtf is a Katydid?
Ants are OP
Now I gotta farm a katydid pet in WoW
This comment deserves more likes
I have a little bull-mantis tied with a short rope for prey dogs. It would be nice to start to socialize my puppy with bigger buggies like your katydid xd. I don't think things will end nicely for your Katy...
Rico we don’t give a dam
I saw this video like 6 years ago. It always stayed with me because of the narrator's line at the end when he sounded like Optimus Prime. "The loser.. never gets up.." But I'm back in 2024 for the sound effect of the dying mantis @7:58. The first time I saw 👀 that part, I laughed so hard I cried 😂. And it's still hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣
If you pause at 7:29, you can see that the katydid was like “Gotcha, buster!!”
The sound effects on these videos are so extra.... y'all need to chill out
Imagine being so sensitive that you get offended by comedic value added to a video of bug fights.
1 ROUND LEFT but literally everyone else is saying the same thing XD they’re so unnecessary
@@Jm649 Literally everyone? Nah man
Bad Cornflakes OK true. A lot of them though. Well you can enjoy them and I can find them cringe. It's no biggy 🤷🏻♂️
It's real not sound effects
The sound effects were a bit excessive...
Holy crap! A katydid actually won something
The eating sounds are so satisfying and making boring 2 sec fight enjoyable
Lol... "The katydid is just as big, just as strong..."
No it isn't, it's quite clearly bigger and stronger than the mantis. 😂
Until it comes up against a full size Mantis lol, then it wouldn’t even be a fight it’d be a massacre
easily not a fair fight. the katydid is a much larger, heavier, better armored and has more brute force. on top of that it moves just as fast if not faster than the mantis. the mantis is a very brave and intelligent animal, but in a fight like this the victor is too obvious. maybe if the two were the same size it would have been are fairer battle. not an even match up.
LfunkeyA the mantis squared up no one forced it he simply bit off more than her could chew
@@adrianjohnson8675 dude female katydids are larger than male, same to mantids. but i don't think that mantis was a male
They said they were equally sized but actually in the fight you can see the Katydid was quite a bit larger than the mantis.
Maybe because of the katydid's wings? It kinda makes it look bigger
1:55 The spider's "scream" XDXDXDXDXD
Wow..! A katydid won a bugwar?! Didn't know that was possible
I mean I'm always rooting for for the mantis but you can literally see it being eaten in the thumbnail so......
no that's eating a grasshopper...
not a mantis...
*"sharp eyes see it all*"
Thats an another Katydid XD
Imagine how terrifying a preying mantis would be if it were as big as a dog
Xeno?
@@ivankadump2539 lol what
That mantis is small.
Jae Freeman I know...
its because its just a garden mantid
Aquamarine 1724 OH OK THEN, PUT IN YOUR LARGEST SPECIES, AND THE KATYDIDS HAVE SAGA PEDO, WHICH WILL DESTROY ANY MANTIS.
For god's sake, Sia Ferox is a raspy cricket, not a katydid!
So what?
The mantis do have predators
Praying mantis: Ha I won round one I got this fight in the bag
Katydid: "Are you sure about that"
damn, there's nothing left but the wings and an single leg leftover!
