I have a 2006 speed triple and it's my favourite bike of all time. I have no plans to change it. Ever. Definitely a really fun bike to ride but very user friendly. Even toured with camping gear down to Greece 🇬🇷 from the UK 🇬🇧 and another time to Portugal 🇵🇹 no problems and reasonably comfortable. I've had the same bike on a track day at Silverstone and it held it's own even if I mostly had my chin on the tank to avoid breaking my neck.
I just purchased a stunning 2011 Special Edition Speed Triple and then came upon your review. I’m exactly in lock step with your analysis. You helped to save me from any regrets. And your “Everyman” testing and review approach is refreshing from other testers on TH-cam.
This video just made me excited. After work today. Some guy is supposed to meet me too do a trade for my r6. Same exact 1050 color and all. 10 thousand miles. Guy worked at triumph. Has every triumph add on. And stock parts come with it. Also has receipts for every service...
Lovely review. I learnt to ride on an SV650 (my girlfriend’s) and passed my test on an 07 Speed. Now slowly doing some mods. I love the bike. Such a gem.
I bought a 2005 model with 9000 miles on it.Exactly the same as this one except mine is burnt yellow.Slightly larger rad on the 2005 model and Nissin brakes ....so I think the bike featured is a 2005.The weak point on this model is the charging system.Tends to burn out the stator typically around 16-18000 miles.I fitted a Gammatronix battery charging indicator to mine and it is great for peace of mind.I also own a 2008 Street Triple which has done 44000 miles.I bought it brand new and it is on it's 4th stator! But I love my Speed Triple.I bought it after my Aprilia Tuono 1000R was stolen .I would not change back now....even though the Tuono would probably have the edge on performance. The Speed uses 40% less fuel. And it looks fantastic with it's 3 into 1 Storm exhaust. To me it is a brilliant all round road bike. The motor is like a turbine with beautiful smooth power.Gearbox is a bit notchy on the downshift but you get used to it.
I just bought an ‘08 Speed Triple with 4,175 miles on it, Burnt Orange but otherwise similar to this bike in that it’s absolutely immaculate. I instantly loved riding it and I’ve always thought the bug-eye iteration is the best looking. The stock mirrors on it are the best I’ve seen in terms of view to the side and behind. Why anyone would out a single bar-end mirror on is beyond me. Absolutely fantastic bike.
What a glowing happy review! I own the same year speedy but in the roulette green and I love it all the way home. I've watched this video about 3 times in the past few days because the weathers been crap and i love to hear this motor wind out! Ride safe brother
DURABLE is it’s best attribute. Been riding my ‘05 daily since new, now with 80K+ on it, it still runs flawlessly. Only 2 issues I’ve had were; the rotor/stator burned up at 50K (always use OEM electrical parts!). And at 75K the Showa fork seals blew. Rock Solid overall with reasonable care. The ECM & fuel pump are still original. My ‘85 Yamaha V Max, I peddled for 20yrs since new, literally disintegrated, to where repairs exceeded diminishing returns. A trusty classic never dies🏆😎.
Been on an 06 since 2013. Had my share of the typical maintenance and mishaps. Still stare at the bike every time I see it. To me it's the king of all street bikes.
I bought my '01 955i Speed Triple in 2016 with 3,000mi also. Four years later the bike has 55,000mi and still running strong. Obviously I LOVE riding this bike. I have a Toyota truck. for the rainy days and taking my wife shopping but most of the time I ride my Speedie. If I had to use one word to describe the bike it would be QUALITY.
I just got a 2011 speed triple with 37k KMs (22k Miles) and it runs flawlessly. These machines are very reliable despite what people may think. As long as you keep up with the services then there’s no reason you won’t get 120k Kilometers out of them.
@@everythinggaming7938 it’s got nearly 50k kms on it now, a couple small issues popped up involving a leaky oil cooler but it was an easy fix and otherwise it’s been a pretty painless ownership experience
I think I prefer the speed triple over the MT09. It's not as wild. It feels more manageable and predictable. I think I'm going to look for one this week and add a speed to my garage. Used bike prices have gone up some but you can get a 2015/16 for under $8k.
Really joyful, congratulations man! Just a few weeks too late: I’m getting a ST RS next week if Coronavirus restrictions here in France would allow me. Just joking, I’m happy with my choice but still you really make this thing look gorgeous. Ride safe!
Just found a 2003 Speed Triple - green one all the mods factory carbon pipe flashed for motor, solo seat bar ends lower + front fairings and 3,000 miles well mine is 5,000 km here in Canada and I paid $6,500 cdn

The SV650 is another favorite of mine. The Speed is a really good bike, enjoy!
Do you still have your bike? What mods have you done?
Proud owner of an 08 and a 10.
These are epic bikes

Thank you! I've always thought that green color was lots of fun.

would you recommend it for a newer rider? i have 2 seasons of riding experience and im looking to upgrade to a speed triple

what issues have you had?

This generation of the Speed is my favorite.
have you had any major issues in those 50K miles?

120? you can do more than that

Was gonna buy this, went to the website. Long gone. Thanks for the review!
Thanks!
I've got the RS mentioned near the start. I've ridden a 2011 and a 2017 model. They're all good but The RS is mega by comparison.
Such a beautiful bike.. and for that price?! Wonderful

Speed Triple is way more refined than the MT09. Used prices have been really messed up lately, I have noticed it in my area too.
Beautifull review, congrats man!
It has a gas light. That leaves you with approx 1 gallon to find a Gas station to fill up.

I have a 01 model with 56k miles still going strong.
Good review!
Thanks for your insights 💪
very good review
Thanks!
Would this be a good second bike after riding a XT600X for around one year?
I have a 40 yo motorcycle with only 30k miles on it.
Thanks for the review.
How was the clutch?
It's good, the bike us super easy to ride.
Turn the indicators off dude. Your gonna get hit!
Self canceling indicators on my RS have made me a lazy man.
My thoughts exactly. Make it something you do every 5 seconds, or every intersection etc.
@@TheDriversPerspective Still doesn't hurt to look at the dash every now and then
Really great review! Really great channel! Subbed.
My analog bike has Carburetors !
The low fuel light is driving me nuts lol
Want to have a few beers and ride it.

I have a 2002...(955i). A great, and beautiful machine....enjoy yours.
Też go kocham muj speed triple 1050 2007r
