3 swift and solid punches in succession were able to do the job. Pereira probably thought he'd got him in the same position as the last fight. Izzy realised that too and countered right back...and proved effective.

he's probably going up to 205 but tbh, there's no one else at Middleweight close to a title shot that Izzy hasn't beaten besides Khamzat who hasn't beaten anyone ranked in MW and is more worthy of a Welterweight title shot.

Brian, this video got me thinking- if you're ever in need of a mma-related video topic, I'd love to see an "Anatomy of the Punch" video (series?). I've always heard that a punch should be aimed with the middle finger knuckle to avoid a Boxer's Fracture (the reasoning being that it's the metacarpal most lined up with the forearm), but I also see from the digital anatomy tool that the middle metacarpal lines up directly with the capitate and even the lunate, as well, as if the hand has evolved for impact from that direction (knuckle-walking?). Fascinating.
Also, would love an analysis of why/how taping hands/wrists helps structurally, as well as the different ways gloves help/hurt- I've heard that while both mma and boxing gloves do provide padding on the knuckles (to avoid facial cuts), they're actually mostly there to avoid broken hand bones on the striker (that the hand isn't structurally built for impact from crosses & hooks/backfists & hammerfists/etc), and that the larger surface area of boxing gloves can counter-intuitively actually apply a wider blunt force trauma (ie: a big, leather club).
Would _love_ to hear your thoughts on all that, but either way- love the videos! Best!

I'm going to be nitpicky because you are are a physician.
1:50 - The area you're circling "where everything comes together" would more accurately be described as the zygomaticomaxillary complex, rather than just the zygomatic arch. ZMC fractures are what we often see with punches.
2:50 - The indentation is clearly skin sinking inferior to the zygomatic process due to traction, not a displaced fracture as you are alluding to.
6:45 - The middle meningeal artery at the level you are pointing to is well insulated -- located deep to the mandible and muscles of mastication. A middle meningeal artery injury would be of greater concern due to an impact higher up near the pterion. Having said that, it's goofy to bring up the chance of a middle meningeal artery injury secondary to a gloved punch.
7:50 - It's funny that you gloss over the vestibular system after having spent so much time of everything else, despite blunt force to the vestibular system probably being the biggest contributor to the "knockout anatomy" in this case.
