hey man!! I just got a new RX pack for the revo, it seems it's solved the issues I had. Weird because I voltage tested the old pack and it was above 6.5 Volts, but wishing 2-3 minute it would die out. Must be some type of Phantom Voltage Capacity, lol. JANG is the man!!! Luckily the traxxas nitros all have very good throttle return spring setups.

I oerdered 2 144001's 1 red 1 green w/2 batteries. The red one finally shipped on 11/3 its half way to me in Massachusetts and the green 144001 w/2 batteries still wont ship for another 2 weeks banggood is telling me blah. I ordered everything on 10/25 these guys are flying off the shelves lol. Good to see yours zooming around i cant wait to try it. I'm not sure what type of 550 motor that buggy includes but most are rated at 8.4 volts. A 3S pack will prematurely kill that motor even if it is rated at 12 volts. Also does the ESC have a 3S li-po cut off? I think it is designed for 2S which means the voltage will cut off around 6 to 6.4 volts, which means a 3S pack will never reach a voltage that low so the cut off will not function.
While you are correct about the ESC. The motor will take a fair while to die using 3s. And even if the motor does burn out it doesn't matter as a new one is pocket change money..less than 10 dollars. If the ESC burns out it's time to go brushless

yup, the only little thing I've seen about 144001 to kinda not like is shock tower tops getting bent up, likely simple enough to whip some up from compressed black epoxyglass sheet, then they'd either bounce or snap. another (easier!) possible is large OD steel washers both sided of those plates.

Problem is I have super cheap tires that always look like they are low on air, when it reality it's usually about 32 PSI anyway, ahaha. The benefit is the ride is comfier, but probably one tire is loosing air due to a hole, so that is also possible.

Just wanted to share that there are other videos of this car being destroyed while using a 3S battery on TH-cam. You might get a few runs and you might not. I watched one video that fried the ESC with the first punch out. So be warned, this car is NOT meant for 3s. Do yourself a favor and just get a larger 2S battery and then have fun blasting around at 30mph for 20+min! Have fun guys!
hey dude, thanks for watching. I don't deny that some people had issues with a 3S, they probably were really killing it and pushing the limits with this. I only do some speed runs on 3S and use. pretty terrible 3S lipo. Even traxxas/castle ESC's have had total failure when powered on, this was common with E-revos and some other models. I'd chalk the 3S failures up to just manufacturing defects, mine ran just fine, and the ESC was not that hot.

I have been getting really sidetracked lately, I need to work on the gas scooter and the primal, you are right!! It's just one of those things, when I get an idea I gotta make the video, and forget about the rest. I need an assistant, preferably a Girl who is into RC's. lol. I got that dart gun for 6 bucks at Walmart, and it has pretty good accuracy even at 30-40 feet away.
hey dude. Generally any 2S lipo will work with this power system, even a 3S lipo seems to run fine. Your biggest issue will be making sure the larger capacity battery fits the battery tray itself. Also every ESC I've seen recently has built in Over Voltage protection, so it just should not Arm itself if you connect an uncompatible battery. What are you looking for? More runtime, or a 3S setup?

so far I have the original 550 Titan motor from an E-maxx, a 12T Chinese 540 motor and a full 5200KV brushless system. It's a toss up between the Chinese brushed motor and the titan.

I hooked up a 3s lipo to mine , and smoke came out of the reciever. LOL. Needless to say it's toast. Doesnt matter, I was planning on going brushless anyway. I have a couple videos on this car, and plan on doing more. Check them out!!

Mine with 3s did 0KM/h and a trickle of smoke.. Can you please shot a picture to your car's stock ESC? I think it may be different in newer 144001... can't find another explaination. :)
hey man! You are probably right, Kyosho was heavy into the Nitro Rcs years ago, and are still one of the few brand names left making them to this day. I personally never owned a vintage Kyosho, but would love to one day. The T-maxx released in 1999 really made the monster truck segment something most rc guys could get into.
hey bro! Depends on which rustler model you're talking about. But this is still faster than a rustler VXL on a 2S or 7 cell NIMH. so you're right. The rustler is only fast when it's on 3S.

hey man! Yes, this car comes with a 550 can motor, you're right. I'll be honest with you, upgrading to any mild modified brushed motor will make this faster, it's got pretty high gearing and it's not adjustable. BTW, most people wind up putting in a cheap 540 brushless system into these, but you'll need a new radio system too. Best to either go brushless or keep it stock.

hey buddy! It really depends how you drive, I would say a conservative estimate would be about 10 minutes. You need to keep in mind these have huge 550 can motors, and they run small capacity lipos. Usually people use several lipos for their runs to get a good run time for the day, you know.
hey man!! Yes, most of the 1500 mah packs will fit. But the issue is the battery strap. IDK how to figure that out without a longer velcro strap. There is also very little clearance for height, the battery I used in this video is the biggest you could fit without mods.
the more important question is how will you make it fit, lol. As long as it fits the capacity won't affect the ESC. Running a 3S lipo will do more damage than running a larger capacity 2S lipo. BTW, as long as you just monitor the temps on the esc and motor then running a larger pack is fine.
whats up NORM. This is the Dynamite GP Speed meter I originally got from amazon for about 90 bucks. They always cost around $100, on eBay as well. Don't buy the cheaper Flysky GSP meter, this is the way to go. IT has extremely high refresh rate for accurate GPS at any portion of a second's time. hey buddy Thanks for watching. I'm sorry I cannot give you any bangood link for this 3S lipo. I already owned the lipo and it's from a Loss mini eight. Your best bet is to measure the battery tray size of the actual car and then order based on the size specs. Always best to measure when getting a non-standard size lipo.
hey dude!! I already have all the required parts to do a full brushless setup if I wanted. The question is will I go a different route first? I would like to first test this out with just a faster modified brushed motor before going all the way.
@hybrid32494 yup, slap a nice 05 14D or 16D in there see what's what. a possible: ID the mosfets in the ESC and swap in stronger ones from Mouser electronics. been decades since I'd done that but DAMN it can do things for a cheap ESC, only cost 5-6 bucks to do it too (and some soldering time no biggie).
hey buddy!! thanks for watching. This was fully stock, it can run a 3S easily, no mods needed. KEep in mind i would not really push it too hard until you know how long and what capacity of 3S it can take. I ran a pretty old bad 3S in this video, but it was just fine.
I was using a pretty low discharge lipo, think it was about 25C. I would say a 30C would be fine. You don't need more than 30C continuous. 35C is probably safe too, just take it easy at first and monitor your ESC temps.
hey buddy! This was a brushed stock motor run. This whole RC as you saw in the video was 100% stock, I did not modify anything. I only ran a small 3S lipo for the speed runs.

For me, Bangood is great with shipping, not any worse than any basic sellers on eBay, honestly. Plus there is no sales tax so I'm happy. I;ve got a cheap GOOLRC 13T 540 modified motor, I think that will be fun to test out.
hey man!! YES!! I did that in this video. Keep in mind I don't do more than a few speed runs with a 3S, but mine was fine. I would say just don't run longer than a few minutes to be safe until you feel comfortable with the ESC Temps.
hy man!! I am actually testing that idea out right now. They are substantially wider, thats the only problem. I did test fit the front tires just now and they do fit and steer without hitting anything. But there is a tiny amount of clearance left when steering.
touring car wheels work well on this too, as well as drift wheels. Only issue is the axle is thinner than normal, but when the Wheel nut is tight it really doesn't wobble anyway.

I’ve been wanting go see someone use a higher capacity 2S on these to see if it unlocks some more speed. You happen to have any? This thing would be lights out on 3S but I think it’ll smoke the ESC over time.
it just burned my esc on 3s. I ordered a brushless system and ordered a stock esc. im pretty disappointed my 2nd day with it and this happen. now I gotta wait about 3 weeks for the things to arrive from China
hahaha, good point!!! I drive the prius so I can buy more RC's LOL. Not joking either. Based on my math my Prius has paid itself off about 3 years ago in fuel savings alone, the car is basically paying me to drive it right now (compared to a basic civic or corolla).
hey man!! That 3S battery is from my Team Losi mini eight. It came with the car, and is designed specifically for that model. It just seems to fit well in this WLTOYS also.
You said your car didn't overheat, but I question how reliable that is going to be in the long run. I just ran mine outside in 60f weather for 6 or 7 min (before a wheel arm fell off) and the esc and motor were pretty hot (stock battery). Supposedly you can add a bigger battery, but I can't see this thing running on a 3s for any length of time, or a 2s that lasts longer than the stock battery (without resting occasionally). I wonder if cutting a hole in the shell to let air through will help...or maybe I'm just paranoid.
hey man! thank you for watching! You have some valid points. To be honest with you I feel many people exaggerate how hot these things can get before it's dangerous. For this video I ran a 3S not longer than about 2-3 minutes, simply to record some speed runs. I don't recommend bull hardcore bashing with a 3S. It's adequate for some speed runs as is. Eitherway the ESC and Motor are so cheap that even if you burn one it's not the end of the world to replace, you know. It does have thermal shutoff btw, so there is no way you can ruin it really.

hey buddy! Yes, this car comes with a 550 size BRUSHED motor. These motors are geared very high, you don't need a brushless system. IF you ever want to go brushless it's possible, but you will also need a new radio, receiver and servo.

George i just put a 3s pack but my esc began to smoke. my wheels turn but not the throttle. do you think its a motor or esc issue?
i put a 13v 3s in and went well nothing bad happend

I have been getting really sidetracked lately, I need to work on the gas scooter and the primal, you are right!! It's just one of those things, when I get an idea I gotta make the video, and forget about the rest. I need an assistant, preferably a Girl who is into RC's. lol. I got that dart gun for 6 bucks at Walmart, and it has pretty good accuracy even at 30-40 feet away.
How to determine if the batt is okay with that motor that will not cause problem if you're planing to upgrade the batt
hey dude. Generally any 2S lipo will work with this power system, even a 3S lipo seems to run fine. Your biggest issue will be making sure the larger capacity battery fits the battery tray itself. Also every ESC I've seen recently has built in Over Voltage protection, so it just should not Arm itself if you connect an uncompatible battery. What are you looking for? More runtime, or a 3S setup?

so far I have the original 550 Titan motor from an E-maxx, a 12T Chinese 540 motor and a full 5200KV brushless system. It's a toss up between the Chinese brushed motor and the titan.

hey man! You are probably right, Kyosho was heavy into the Nitro Rcs years ago, and are still one of the few brand names left making them to this day. I personally never owned a vintage Kyosho, but would love to one day. The T-maxx released in 1999 really made the monster truck segment something most rc guys could get into.
yes E-Maxx and T-Maxx were popular. It was the Kyosho Nitro Tracker with Beetle body shell which hat reverse at nitro :-)

hey bro! Depends on which rustler model you're talking about. But this is still faster than a rustler VXL on a 2S or 7 cell NIMH. so you're right. The rustler is only fast when it's on 3S.
But most of those traxxas and others only go like 30 out the box until u tweak it..

hey man! Yes, this car comes with a 550 can motor, you're right. I'll be honest with you, upgrading to any mild modified brushed motor will make this faster, it's got pretty high gearing and it's not adjustable. BTW, most people wind up putting in a cheap 540 brushless system into these, but you'll need a new radio system too. Best to either go brushless or keep it stock.

What is the run time on the car with the 3s
hey buddy! It really depends how you drive, I would say a conservative estimate would be about 10 minutes. You need to keep in mind these have huge 550 can motors, and they run small capacity lipos. Usually people use several lipos for their runs to get a good run time for the day, you know.

hey man!! Yes, most of the 1500 mah packs will fit. But the issue is the battery strap. IDK how to figure that out without a longer velcro strap. There is also very little clearance for height, the battery I used in this video is the biggest you could fit without mods.
I have a little different stock ESC for this RC. It said 60A carbon brush regulator. Do you think it can handle 3S battery without overheat ?

Do you think putting a 2s 3000 mah would be too much for the stock ESC to handle?
the more important question is how will you make it fit, lol. As long as it fits the capacity won't affect the ESC. Running a 3S lipo will do more damage than running a larger capacity 2S lipo. BTW, as long as you just monitor the temps on the esc and motor then running a larger pack is fine.

whats up NORM. This is the Dynamite GP Speed meter I originally got from amazon for about 90 bucks. They always cost around $100, on eBay as well. Don't buy the cheaper Flysky GSP meter, this is the way to go. IT has extremely high refresh rate for accurate GPS at any portion of a second's time. hey buddy Thanks for watching. I'm sorry I cannot give you any bangood link for this 3S lipo. I already owned the lipo and it's from a Loss mini eight. Your best bet is to measure the battery tray size of the actual car and then order based on the size specs. Always best to measure when getting a non-standard size lipo.

a possible: ID the mosfets in the ESC and swap in stronger ones from Mouser electronics. been decades since I'd done that but DAMN it can do things for a cheap ESC, only cost 5-6 bucks to do it too (and some soldering time no biggie).

hey buddy!! thanks for watching. This was fully stock, it can run a 3S easily, no mods needed. KEep in mind i would not really push it too hard until you know how long and what capacity of 3S it can take. I ran a pretty old bad 3S in this video, but it was just fine.

I was using a pretty low discharge lipo, think it was about 25C. I would say a 30C would be fine. You don't need more than 30C continuous. 35C is probably safe too, just take it easy at first and monitor your ESC temps.

hey buddy! This was a brushed stock motor run. This whole RC as you saw in the video was 100% stock, I did not modify anything. I only ran a small 3S lipo for the speed runs.

just buy a 6 inch of velcro and glue it to that strap using e6000...works like a charm...use 1 inch over lap allow 24 hr to dry...

hey man!! YES!! I did that in this video. Keep in mind I don't do more than a few speed runs with a 3S, but mine was fine. I would say just don't run longer than a few minutes to be safe until you feel comfortable with the ESC Temps.

Erevo 1/16 tires fit well on 144001?
hy man!! I am actually testing that idea out right now. They are substantially wider, thats the only problem. I did test fit the front tires just now and they do fit and steer without hitting anything. But there is a tiny amount of clearance left when steering.

touring car wheels work well on this too, as well as drift wheels. Only issue is the axle is thinner than normal, but when the Wheel nut is tight it really doesn't wobble anyway.

You said your car didn't overheat, but I question how reliable that is going to be in the long run. I just ran mine outside in 60f weather for 6 or 7 min (before a wheel arm fell off) and the esc and motor were pretty hot (stock battery). Supposedly you can add a bigger battery, but I can't see this thing running on a 3s for any length of time, or a 2s that lasts longer than the stock battery (without resting occasionally). I wonder if cutting a hole in the shell to let air through will help...or maybe I'm just paranoid.
hey man! thank you for watching! You have some valid points. To be honest with you I feel many people exaggerate how hot these things can get before it's dangerous. For this video I ran a 3S not longer than about 2-3 minutes, simply to record some speed runs. I don't recommend bull hardcore bashing with a 3S. It's adequate for some speed runs as is. Eitherway the ESC and Motor are so cheap that even if you burn one it's not the end of the world to replace, you know. It does have thermal shutoff btw, so there is no way you can ruin it really.

hey buddy! Yes, this car comes with a 550 size BRUSHED motor. These motors are geared very high, you don't need a brushless system. IF you ever want to go brushless it's possible, but you will also need a new radio, receiver and servo.
