Learning how to balance your 70 will be easy. I run about 8 1/2-9 a day so by the time that 7th day ends…I still have some time, and my recaps will kick in.
And just a friendly fyi: don’t disclose what’s in the trailer( it could attract the wrong crowd and you might wake up to a broken seal and missing product

That it exactly. Don't run out your hours unless it benefits you.

Old school here your a rooky for a year in the old school world .when you get your dispatch plan your whole trip out don't sweat the small stuff be nice to dispatch but don't let them push you to hard ..what most don't understand is you are reprograming your brain you make 2 times the normal decisions every second than when you drive a car .It was normal for me to be gone for over a month at a time .And i did oversize and heavy long haul .what your doing is a cake walk compared to what i did.

I agree! Appreciate the advice! I do have a question though. When dispatch isn’t understanding how do I get it through their head? Nicely lol

@@chrisgilhooly4635 Well i guess you could remind them your still pretty green and still trying to get things figured out .like time management to get the load and deliver it ..but most important is let dispatch know how much time you have if they don't track it already .as soon as you get your dispatch plan your trip it's all about time management and traffic in big city's and where you can stop for breaks ..If it takes 10 hours from your location to pickup but they give you that 10 to get there say sorry that will be too tight if i run into bad traffic going thru xyz city so can we get a later time or first thing in the morning .this way you have a more flexible time to work with .if you make it great if they can't get you loaded right then you get your down time and in the morning or whenever your loaded you should be able to make the run back if it's close enough .just remember you get 11 hours drive time and a mandatory break so plane your place to take the break to avoid bad traffic time in a large city . I know a lot of people use electronics now but get a good road atlas map book it helps you see the whole route and possible if needed ways around ahead of time .Finally i can't say this enough pretrip when you get up and every time you get in or out of the truck and every time you get in or out of the truck a walk around .this is for your safety and the public .Like the cowboy and his horse If everything ain't good bad things happen .Ya never know when some dick head will mess with your truck or trailer .or pull your pin or hit your truck and run .or pop your seal My whole carrier was oversize and heavy long haul 45 years .never lost or damaged a load they call me the Barbarian .
