  • A short film on the archaeological digs that took place in the summer of 2011 on Place D'Youville.
Archaeological digs began in June 2011 on the site of St. Ann's Market, later the home of the Parliament of the United Province of Canada, as part of Phase 1 of tPointe-à-Callière's planned expansion. Archaeologists from the Ethnoscop firm, under the direction of the Museum, discovered 50,000 archaeological items and animal bones, in a state of preservation that has widely exceeded their expectations. Inventorying and analyzing these finds allows us to better document the history of this site, which witnessed a pivotal era in Montréal, Quebec and Canada as a whole.
