I am not a Joey Logano fan. However he had a phenomenal season and while his 2018 championship was basically an apology for 2015, this year he earned it.
Somebody said something interesting. Kyle Busch stole the championship from Logano in 2015 when Logano was the deserving driver that year and Logano stole the championship from Kyle Busch in 2018 when Kyle was the most deserving driver that year. So they're even :)

The Next Gen Car may have been unpredictable, but Joey Logano and the #22 team have shown that they could win races and win the championship in the same season despite the rough beginnings with a new car.

Interestingly Logano joins Kyle Busch in the 2X Champion Conversation in the 16 driver playoff era by winning the last ever race in the Kyle Busch/Joe Gibbs Racing Era And what's hilarious is that Logano won the Championship with scoring as many Top 10s as Kyle Busch who suffered a disastrous 2022 season
I feel like that final lap battle in Vegas really determined the championship in hindsight. With what we know on all the prep time the 22 team had couple with the 1 vs 22 being the battle for the lead, you could assume whoever won that race really had the couple week advantage to unload the best setup speed wise. You saw that in Phoenix in my opinion as the 1 made marginal improvements to finish and eventual 3rd while as we all saw Logano and the 22 team were miles beyond the field.
At first I was not a Joey Logano fan when he first came in the cup level in 2009 as I never heard of him before 2009, but he gained myself as a fan when he was getting better in his last season or 2 with JGR before moving over to the blue oval. When he moved to penske and Ford, he really gained me as a Logano fan and I learned he is the same age as me a few months in his first 2 seasons with The Captain, just born a few months apart from another am happy to see him get his second championship 👍👍

Bad season Brad keselowski 2022 had some speed but just absolutely collapsed, bad seasons Kyle Busch 2022 he just flat out had the worst luck ever, Good seasons Ross chastain 2022, can’t say much he pretty much was insane, Bad seasons: Kevin harvick 2022 ik he had 2 wins but he fell off a cliff in the playoffs and struggled a lot
Over the Final 10 races he had a statline of: 2 Wins, 4 Top 5s, 5 Top 10s, and a 12.1 Average Finish. The craziest thing is that Denny Hamlin, a guy who didn't even make the Final 4, had a statline of 5 Top 5s, 9 Top 10s, and a 6.6 Average Finish. He was clutch, but even excluding the regular season he still wasn't even that great overall.

i am a joey logano fan and when joey was in the round of 12 i was like aaaaa fuck it hes not gonnna make it eney ways and i was wrong. and i was not expeting joey logano to win the 2022 season when i saw chase diving down to the inside i was like welp ggs. and then 6:16 and i was so disbelif and hell he was my 4th driver that will make it to the final 4 ggs to logano and welldone for ross,bell and chase but i think he is mad at ross.
I guess the lines painted on the track are just a suggestion of where you could possibly drive. there's no track limits at Phoenix they just cut that corner all the way down to the wall? why even have the track laid out like that anyway why not just make the track the way they're driving it. what does all that extra payment doing up there no one uses it? Phoenix is nutty they totally ruined it for IndyCar

No practice killed Busch in 2020. He started getting good again in 2021 because some tracks had practice. In early 2022 he was the most consistent driver and was easily the championship favorite until sonoma. About the time he was probably told he wasn't coming back.
Logano totally under-reported all year. Much sexier storylines with Chastain, Bell … and perennial entitled (and talented) driver Elliot. It’s clear he and Paul Wolff studied this track, lap after lap, rehearsed pit stops … like I’m going to sound like a dumb football commentator but it really was all about analytical execution.
The Real Mickey Champion. He can’t win a championship if in the 2004-2013 Chase or a Full Season Championship. He only knows how to win the right races and sometimes by luck from late race cautions or wrecking someone. And nobody wrecks him back because he’s NASCAR’s golden boy and you’ll be suspended if you put a bumper to him. I could learn I’m diagnosed with Cancer and deal with it better than a Logano Championship. He ruined a great story that would’ve been a Ross Chastain championship. And I hope Noah Gragson and Ty Gibbs gives Mickey Logano he’ll like never before. Worst Championship Ever!
Who cares honestly. I don’t like this format, but at the end of the day, drivers adapt to the formats. It’s like with Jimmie Johnson. He knew when to be consistent and when to really shine. If we were running a Winston-like format, Logano would’ve raced accordingly. And while he wouldn’t have won the Winston format, he still would’ve finished 2nd, so that highlights he’s been incredibly consistent all year.
