I think the people who always write the resistance as being fair and balanced is really boring, such a trope. Ethical decisions all depend on the essences of the issues, meaning half-baked conflicts creates less than half-baked narratives/narrative driven mechanics.

      Like come on writing team, ya'll can do better than that.
      On a life level, if one's being real to it that is, there will never be any one human without their sins and there will not be any one group without their excess of sins.. so even if their commitment to murders are based on invalid notions of justice usually the individuals within the groups won't see that they were wrong because they did what they did as a group.
      So although this is real world stuff it's no matter, even for how mediocre the writing is in DL2, even the game is still true to life in this way. So I wouldn't expect any different from a game about a zombie apocalypse.

      My favourite side quest in DL 1 is when a kid is crying and when I asked him what's going on he kept saying "Mike" over and over again, the man next to him said he kept saying that back at the hotel where he found him, he gave me a cassette tape that the boy had to hear what the boy recorded, I popped up some detective conan music and out I went to the hotel to start investigating to find Mike. After some detective work at the hotel I found a dead dog with a collar and written on it was "Mike", after figuring this out a big man jump scared me and kept yelling "MEAT!! MEAT!!!" while attacking me. That was fun.

      From what I've played so far, the bugs are its literal only issue. And that's coming from someone that doesn't feel like playing at the moment off of a glitch alone. Everything else is flawless but the fact that the game is so unpolished is why it's getting such negative responses from critics. The story isn't the best but it's a huge improvement over the first game, traversal is improved from the first game which is saying something, combat is improved massively, and the progression system is it's biggest feat.

      @@g-man9988 Eh, to each his own. The story is massively improved over the first which is considered one of the worst stories of all time. It's a bit like saying COD MW3 has a story on par with the very first COD ever because they both involved shooting. One is definitely better than the other. And the controls are exactly the same with some added in button prompts for things like the paraglider. Overall visuals i feel is an improvement. The game was always meant to showcase humanity's drive to survive and you can't necessarily make that something positive if the world they're surviving in doesn't look like something worth surviving in. The gritty tone of the first game sold for its appeal because it was meant to make you want to escape Harran, the sequel has no where to escape to, making the place it takes place in special compared to everywhere else. The color pallet should reflect that. As far as choices go, you're absolutely right.

    you are one of the few reviewers that tell it like it is and correctly point out how tiresome the open world ubisoft game tm and crafting looter shooter rpg mechanics have become. The story of the game is borrring, most of the dialogues are nonsense that have nothing to do with the setting and were put there by people who propably wanted to make something else like a tv show that they talk about their feelings, rosario dawson character feels shoehorned in there, everyone is dirty and roughed up due to the apocalypse and she has dyed hair, make up and a smug face, wtf? I was interested in this due to chris avelone knowing how to write post apocalyptic stuff and the e3 trailer looked good. Holy crap, they were kidding ,they removed all his stuff and the game looks nothing like the e3 trailer. Also isnt it interesting that the best parts of this game are the linear dungeon parts? Which are on a timer, reminds me of underwater sections in games, i like underwater stuff but all of them have such limited air capacity that it doesnt let you enjoy the experience and get immersed, you have to be always in the louoout for the air timer that goes down. This is what the dark atmospheric areas feel in this game. Ashes 2063 a doom mod is a much better post apocalyptic game than this, it has no headshots but enemies feel less bulletspony than this due to the rpg mechanics, please devs stop using that in games, also zombies dont respawn, am i the only one that cant take it anymore to have endless respawning enemies in open world games? At least in gone days if you clean a zombie hive, thats it, they dont come back and in that game you have machineguns and explosives , in dying light you got lead pipes, zombies feel less of a threat and more of a nuance of the place you are living in, like say living at canada and having to live with snow storms all the time and then you have to clean the road all the time.

I like listening to opinions but after getting into control from a review and playing it until I got bored with it but unable to return it I learned my lesson to find stuff that I enjoy and not what others enjoy. Very good, would recommend. The only downside, a bit of a challenge to incorporate dry ingredients into dough. I dumped the finished dough onto counter and lightly incorporated the residual dry ingredients from bottom of bowl. In my experience with making biscuits, not uncommon and this is not an overly moist dough; however, once butter and cheese melted while baking, texture and moistness was there. Will definitely make again.

The first game was fun BECAUSE the player could essentially move through the world how they wanted to with little to no limits. The paraglider was pointless, and it's only there to replicate a trend in open world games now. They should've focused on improving the movement, and making it as fluid as possible rather than ham fisting mediocre RPG mechanics into the gameplay. People like DL1 because of the movement and strategy you had to employ with routing that movement. DL2 doesn't give you the same freedom of movement, and this makes it less enjoyable imo.

    Calling a game a mix of AC and Farcry because they have similar mechanics even though neither game has the same level of difficulty. If anything night is a strength for you in both of those games while it's a terrifying aspect in this one. I don't feel anxiety fighting a group in AC cause I can just one shot all of them if I time my attacks correctly and just stealth through it while playing Farcry. Group fights in dying light are always nerve wracking in both dying light games, that hasn't changed.
    The story is meh in both games and there are only a handful of good characters. The generalization of parkour must equal AC and throwing knife takedown must equal Farcry is another weak point, games are bound to have similarities but it's what they do with them that matters. I love the parkour aspect of dying light because you chain together different movements and tools to do various stuff which makes it more fun.
    The only gripes I have for this game is the lack of weapon repair simply because I get attached to my weapons quickly, the stamina meter added more difficulty when it came to escaping or enduring fights.
    People seem to forget about how much love the first game got and how much this game will be updated over time. I never expected dying light 2 to go overboard with its initial release and I'm not even mad about what is currently available. All I've seen you do is complain about stuff that can be found in multitudes of other current games. And will no doubt be in the new horizon game to some capacity or any other game coming out later on.

    For me this games gameplay was so much better than the first games gameplay. The human enemies actually make more sense and are actually fun to take on. The parkour is just so much better with two maps that work very well with it while the first games beginning map was mediocre when it came to the parkour side of the game because it didn’t really offer much to climb on compared to the second map in the first dying light. On top of that the first games parkour was pretty meh at times and just felt clunky. While in the second game it can totally still feel clunky but it’s definitely a lot better and a lot more smooth. I don’t like that they tried to make the second one more like an rpg and I was skeptical before buying but the gear and the leveling system plays almost no role in the game most of my play through I never touched my clothing gear. The only role I noticed that the leveling system played that was impactful was with the weapons since higher level weapons do more damage. I’d have to disagree about saying it’s better to wait for a sale, for me the game is really good and lives up to the sequel that I expected. Totally agree that you could consider this game generic. I’ve noticed most zombie games just don’t don’t stick the landing with everyone and it feels like you’ve seen it all before. So I personally think that despite everything this game is absolutely an improvement from the first gameplay wise and open world wise so I’d say it’s totally worth more then 20 bucks. Unless your low on cash then understandable. I’m not gonna mention either of the stories because we can all collectively agree they were both bad.

      Ever since build 41 project zomboid has become my all time favourite zombie game. It's the only one that actually gets zombies right. One scratch or bite and thats it, youre infected. Most zombie games are too easy and not scary because you can just get bit constantly, use a health item, and go about like nothing happened. In project zomboid even one zombie is a threat because they can get lucky and bite you if you screw up the timing of your attack. Which in turn makes hordes feel like a serious threat since they'll just keep coming until they overwhelm you.
      Resident evil 1-3 were great games but I wouldn't say they were great zombie games. The zombies were great enemies, especially back then before there were about 20 zombie games released every year, but I don't think anyone ever played those games just to shoot zombies. You play them for the story, puzzles, inventory management, etc. Shooting zombies is discouraged in hard difficulty too since you wanna save your ammo.
      Resident evil felt like you were surviving in a story about zombies whereas project zomboid actually feels like you're surviving in a WORLD of zombies.

    Gotta put a take here so just read and go about your day...
    - Anyone that paid any attention to the Dying To Know series would have answers to most of the peoples issues with the game, the "Floaty" parkour is a result of the gravity being reverted to normal levels. DL1 had increased gravity to make the game feel really quick and move around a lot, moreover, your character can jump higher due to him *SPOILER* being tested on when he was younger to make him stronger and more agile than anyone else.
    - About the physics: Techland already confirmed that the physics and ragdolls being janky and inconsistent is due to bugs that they'll iron out in future updates.
    - A lot of people jump on the hate train for Dying Light 2 when they compare it to DL1, but these people probably weren't around for DL1's release. It was buggy and had more or less the same issues, saw a comment here that mentioned it's a downgrade to the first because of "No Vehicles" or Buggies. Which if nobody remembers, we're actually from the Following DLC and not a base game mechanic. SAME WITH THE PARKOUR. For some reason everyone is under the Mandela effect, but in 2016, with the release of the following DLC, Techland released a huge patch update that was free for everyone, it added new weather cycles, changed the visuals a slight bit, added bounties to complete, and even added new animations to use in parkour. On release, DL1 had little to no variety in parkour animations, with most of them being the generic Muscle Up animation that was used for every obstacle.
    - A lot of the same issues the first game had, the second does too, weather and lighting effects, ragdoll animations being bugged etc. HOWEVER, just like the first game got updates A LOT, this one will too... If your issue is with the choices and consequences being different to it's E3 gameplay then on that note I completely agree.
    - DL2 lacks the sense of urgency as the first, it excels in quite a lot of ways, with combat being more intricately designed (when it's not buggy) and the parkour being flashier than just run jump climb. I do miss the variety of weapons as the first, I kind of want some Guns, but i want them to be harder to find, so we prevent repeating the same old gun inventory build as the first, with everyone in the online games using shotguns/ARs due to them being so easy to use and OP.
    - Simply put, what i miss are the Whistle animations, the Detailed geometric designs to buildings that the E3 gameplay showed, the takedown animations from the 1st game, NIGHT time being dangerous (The chases need to be cranked up, they're way too easy), and the choices having actual consequences like bandits raiding or stealing if nobody controls a zone or area. I also miss the art style of the E3 gameplay, it had more detail added to it with less focus on creating a visual spectacle with bright colour schemes that made the world look beautiful. The early game seemed to focus more on wanting the world to look bleak and hopeless, with dark shadows being very obvious and dark alleys being completely hidden if the sunlight wasn't facing in that direction. The newer game feels too oversaturated with it's colour palette.
    - ALSO, anyone that played the first game knows we genuinely do not care about the storyline, suddenly with DL2 everyone turns into critics and fails to realise the storyline isn't really what the game is so loved for, it's the exploration, wacky physics and crazy gore and parkour.
    Point being, I would recommend everyone that suddenly hates the game and wants to compare it to the first to hold their horses on reviews, if Number 1 is better and has more content after 7 years, then DL2 will be better and have more content after 7 years. The mandela effect is real

    • @JakenTheGreat
      @JakenTheGreat 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's not about the Mandela effect. This game is a sequel to dying light. To fail in the same areas and devolve in others is inexcusable. When youre a sequel, you get judged based on the previous installment. That's how it works, that's how it will always work.

    • @HedgehogzZ
      @HedgehogzZ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JakenTheGreat Whilst I agree under normal circumstances, bugs happen. Issues with most games will be prevalent, especially when trying to roll out fixes with multiplePlatforms at once, with some being lacking in their hardware. It's just so disappointing if you played the first Dying Light. Weapons eventually broke but you had a set number of repairs to keep you going and they were technically still usable at 0 durability. Plus every weapon had its own differing looks with elemental mods (well really crafted weapon elemental variants in the first) and their own visual physical degradation as their condition went down. I know it sounds minor but it was cool that your weapon got more dented, chipped, and splintered as you used it. Your weapons in the second are just so disposable and it blows that mods repair rather than adding more durability. Dying Light 1's story and characters were kinda meh but it didn't matter because the gameplay was king.
    Dying Light 2 is as you said, is just so generic. It absolutely was a downgrade from the first. The story and characters fucking suck and the gameplay is boring. The survivors aren't even a proper faction just independent shitheads and there's nothing else to it. The peacekeepers may be hard asses sometimes but man are they so much better. The day/night cycle was cool at first glance but just made the game even more boring with far too few zombies in the streets. Fighting people is thee worst aspect of combat. Just bare minimum variety and their weapons disintegrate on death. I don't think there was any innovation since the last game. I can only complement the parkour in the game. Dark dives were interesting but not challenging enough.
    I'll just reinstall the first game, hell even dead island too. There's more fun to be had killing hordes and beating zombies with a broken baton while continuously yelling "Stop resisting arrest!"
    All I can say is... thanks I guess for making me appreciate those games once again?

      Man… how do you all get so much slander for this game. I mean weapon disposability is balanced by how easy you can get those weapons which is meant to be as the game now has the rpg aspect. As for the story, I don’t think it’s that bad. Including the fact though that side quests are shit and there is no point of doing them until late game and only in case you want to complete for 100. The thing with modding weapons could be absolutely boring if there wasn’t a grind for infected trophies which can make the mods matter only within some time. In my personal point of view, there is a huge upgrade on how the game feels in general, yeah I admit that there are some of these annoying mechanics and stuff like bandit camps and windmills, but I feel like the structure of the world with added verticality and inside spaces makes a lot of og parkour mechanics and equipment make way more sense. Like, for instance, getting ur hands on the grappling hook and lowered stamina cost in the first part would make you basically uncatchable even for volatiles, whilst in the recent game it just makes some ares more accessible and adds variability to how you can mix ur moves and escape certain situations. Same thing with weapon mods to be honest. You could find the best mod blueprint as soon as you got to the second part of the city in dying light 1 and that would be endgame. You would care less anytime further about weapon modding. The visuals are so more vibrant and various, which is obvious regarding the release time of these 2 games. Yet, dying light 1 deliberately focused on this brown with a little sprinkle of blend green color which had some atmosphere initially but eventually after some time would annoyingly make all the places look the same. Even in terms of some things that I agree to be the worst in the game, like fighting human ais. There is still an improvement from the previous part. Just remember how dudes could literally block all of your attacks and you had to pull your drop kick game or you would never heart them. I agree that devs could add some more stuff in case of enemies variability etc. However, I finished the game on hard difficulty and as I said there is a huge improvement on how the game feels. What I mean by that precisely, is that dying light 2 feels like a proper structured horror game if you play it in a certain way. The resources which you need to become stronger are scarce if you play on hard diff, hence you have to get out night to get to all forsaken stores gre facilities and so on and so forth. That’s when all these mechanics such as day/night time shift, chase and even this poop ass shit stealth kick in. Mate, just try to clear one of the gre centers or infected type metro stations during the day. It’s an immaculate, nerve racking vibe which in original game could only be provided via some quests where you had to run from the danger. Don’t get me wrong here, I’m not saying that the game is perfect (I still hated some of its aspects, had some serious questions about the reasoning behind some of the main characters actions and experienced tons of annoying bugs and inconveniences) neither I am trying to talk down on the dying light 1 (it was goated for it’s time and I myself grounded it to the level of 250). Despite that, I believe that some of y’all are blinded by some unknown factors. How do you ppl become so demanding and skeptical lately. Yeah, god of war was hella good but chill out already. Dying light isn’t sss tier, but it’s good, so why you lot can’t just enjoy it…

    The level system ruined it for me. I'm still enjoying the game. It's just that it created artificial difficulty with some zombies and humans. Especially if you venture into other territories early in the game. They allow you to explore from the get go but punish you for it with annoyingly tanky enemies. I complained about the health bars before the launch and people told me that I can just turn it off. But it doesn't remove the problem.
    The level system should've been replaced with a "tier system." Different variants of different zombies. So they could've made volatiles a little more common at night to make the night time more scary but have more threatening variants like an armored volatile the longer the chase lasts.
    It's basically like what ruined Assassin's Creed and Far Cry. What's the point of a stealth takedown when you can't insta-kill enemies? Stealth in this game is pointless... besides when you're in dark zones.
    Howlers are also super annoying. They aren't threatening but they are everywhere. And they don't really do anything. All they do is stand on one spot and scream when they spot you. So if you are on the ground at night it basically turns into an automatic chase. The first game did this perfectly where you have volatiles patrolling and you would basically try to avoid them. The lack of volatiles and brutes made it feel less rewarding. They basically scales the amounts of them back and beefed them up instead of innovating on the types or even variants.
    I like the infected system though.

    • @akmal94ibrahim
      @akmal94ibrahim 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's a lazy enemy level system. Just artificially increasing the enemy's health and damage without changing anything else to make it actually a challenge.
      A great enemy level system is fromsoft's games. Each new area presents new enemy types. And these new enemy types are more difficult the further you go. Not just difficult because their health is high, but mainly because their moveset is now more complex or varied. That's how you do the enemy's level system.

Nothing is more boring than that and they shovel those enemies into children's games because they'll eat any slop you give them and don't want to be challenged or scared or alone. That's why everything is a non-scary, multiplayer, E Z mode game lmaooo.

    Honestly there's no reason to say Dying Light two isn't bad. The game is bad. They pushed it back a whole 7 months and it's still came out awful. I'm actually really happy seeing the video like this. I *love* Dying Light 1. The combat and zombies were freaking amazing. The story had its ups but was definitely more downs. But it felt like a unique game to me. It was fresh. Dying light 2 bored the crap out of me. One of the biggest and most heart pounding and adrenaline field things you can do in Dying Light 1 was piss off zombies during the night and it just becomes a absolute cluster fuck. In Dying Light 2 all you got to do is stay on top of the roofs and avoid the screamers and that's literally what you do at night. Its boring and uneventful. Not to mention the game is like Assassin's Creed and Far Cry 6 for some reason. It just felt like they threw the core components of Dying Light out and involving other games type of combat and style. I honestly don't think I've ever been so disappointed in a game. Even Anthem didn't disappoint me this badly.

    Conspiracy Theory:
    They made the tutorial two hours long so you couldn't refund the game on steam once you actually got into the open world.
