I have a whole vision for a 2D fighter and I knew it would take some learning but man. This is making my brain scream. I just started using dreams. I'm still doing the tutorials.
Hey Cuddle Queen :D I feel you hey! So many cool ideas but it can be tricky to translate those ideas into dreams at first. But that's what I'm here for (also Vince Kully and TAP Giles :D)! You can ask me questions anytime and I'll help as best as I can (if I haven't made a video about it already :D). But take it slow, start small and you'll get there in no time.
Meanlad you will need to keyframe the collision box on the puppet down with your crouch pose otherwise the puppet would still be able to be hit in crouch mode as it's collision box does not move down with the puppet. I found this out form Ladylex tutorial on crouching just letting you know incase you run into problems later on because of this.
So here’s my current issue with the crouch as I have a custom walk animation when I crouch it doesn’t do the crouch animation properly and instead plays both at the same time which causes it to not look right any fix
I would suggest putting a keyframe in your crouch animation (or just have a keyframe activated when you press your crouch button) that disables the walk animation. The easiest way to do this is to create a node linking the movement controls (L Analog) and the characters movement. The keyframe would deactivate that node for as long as your crouch button is pressed :D If you're still having trouble, use that same keyframe to disable procedural movement and/or procedural walk in your puppet :D Let me know how it goes!
@@meanlad I'm brand new to Dreams. what would you suggest is the best place to start, as in what are some of the best videos you recommend. this was a great video and it looks exactly like a game I have in vision
Yo is there a way to make selectable stages like in Smash? Making stages / arenas is what I want to do the most, but I don't know how to make a menu where you can choose them
Would this work if I wanted to make a 2D "digitized photo" style fighter like Mortal Kombat? Is there a way to take a series of flat photo scans in and make them into a character somehow?
Yo mate, in terms of the logic 100%. Making a 2D sprite is a lot easier now with the square fleck. However, there's no way to import image into dreams as of yet. I believe they might be adding it in a future update though, so stay tuned. Until then, you'll have to create your 2D sprites from scratch in Dreams.
Yo mate! Thanks for the question. Honestly, I haven't had a chance to do a 3D fighter like Tekken just yet. 🤔 I think it would be quite a complex rig because of the rotations. 💫 But as soon as I figure it out I'll let you know mate! 🤩
After following this, my puppet won't stop rotating whenever i playtest. Is there any way to lock the direction it faces? But besides that issue I stumbled upon this guide is great and you've earned my sub!
Thanks for the support mate :D Hmmm, not sure why your puppet is rotating. Have you got it set to 2D movement? Also maybe check if there are any rotators on your character that might be affecting them. Maybe also turn off the look-at and follow settings in your puppet :D
Yoo ik ima a tear late but im making my first game and i jave an issue with the crouch... Whenever I crouch my character automatically spawns to the spot where I made the crouch animation?
Hey mate! Never too late to ask questions 😁 And this is a common issue, so no worries! It's most probably that when you animated your puppet you moved the entire puppet rather than their individual body parts. If you use the keyframe to record a movement of the entire puppet then it will record their position in the scene as well making them jump to that position 🤓 So deanimate the puppet/delete the keyframe. Then animate it again but make sure to scope into the puppet first with L1 and X 😁
idk why but it like dreams automatically inverts my inputs for when i use local inputs so left outputs right and vice versa I check to make sure my negatives and positives were right and they are so idk if dreams glitching or it some weird tank control scheme going on so I have to use the one that use camera logic which it works but I struggling as to how i can implement jump without using an action button cause atm I have r1 for jump SOLVED: ok all my logic for movement works if i do opposite of yours which is cra cra but it worked so idk why my dreams does this cause it's not first that it the reverse for most but thanks anyway
@@thereallokii6611 All you have to do is change your turn speed very high :D Normally it's something like 180 degrees /s which means it'll take one full second to turn halfway around. If you want it to be instant I would say set it to something like 1000 :D
I made this tutorial, I managed to complete the first step.. well done tutorial!
Nice work mate!

Thanks you so much this has helps a ton!!!!
Kendrich mate! I'm glad to hear it 🤩 it's my pleasure 🙌🏻
Wow 🥺 I love you and your channel

Looking forward to this series 👍

Mate, thank you so much for the tip! I shall make an edit to that in the next vid :D
Check latest vid for a shoutout ;)
i was wondering ,can i use this tutorial for 3D fight too.thanks
Can you make a "how to make a 3D arcade fighting game" tutorial series? Gameplay being similar to AEW Fight Forever?
Can you do like more tutorials like this maybe a one with mortal Kombat?
I'll see what I can do! :D

Whenever I press right it makes me jump
Hey mate, that sounds like a button on your controller sensor is connected to the jump input on your puppet interface. Look for an extra wire 🤓
How do you make it so that if you jump you can't crouch mid air
How do I rig a camera for a Tekken or Virtua Fighter type of fighting game?

Whenever i hit l1 + square it opens a diferent menu, so i can't make my character sit still while crouching
Oh yeah and my character crouches on air, how do i fix that?
For some reason I can’t open my controller sensor
Oh snap! Sorry to hear that mate. Hmm, maybe try and press L1 and circle. It could be that you're scoped into something else and unable to open it.
L1 and square
Legal.

Can you do a tutorial on a 2d platform fighter like smash bro pls !!!!
Heyo! I'll see about doing a future series on it :D
meanlad that would be awesome also I was thinking about creating a game that’s like Fable bc there is no other game like it !
I have no clue how to instantly snap in the direction I’m going either it’s always slow when my character looks the other way
