Goodwill, in defense of their high prices, will actually tell you that no part of their mission is to provide low cost items to the poor. Their mission is job training, period.

I would jump on that defense, if it weren’t for the way they underpay their employees - especially their special needs ones. Money definitely trickles up in that org.

found a bag the other day was $17 and was lots of Mario stuff. so I took and and they are like almost brand new, and found a mini fig that goes for $5 on bricklink . man I was happy . most times they take them out and sell them separate for like $15-$20 . love finding mini figures .

I always find the discourse around thrift stores interesting, and the “it’s for poor people to shop” part makes me think two things:
1 - So poorer people only deserve the stuff other people throw out?
2 - Looking at a thrift store like Value Village/Savers, they actually only donate money to charity when people donate items themselves, not make purchases. Otherwise they are a for-profit company. So yes, I like to shop there for resale purposes, but I also try to donate what I can to actually contribute to the charitable side of the business.
And as always, I’m happy to be along for the ride as you grow the business and the channels, keep it up!

That first one really grinds my gears. I agree. If you really want your stuff going to a "poor person" there's plenty of programs that hand out stuff for free to homeless, etc.
One of the Salvation Army's I frequent has an adult rehabilitation center right across the parking lot... while I may not personally align with all of the values that the SA has, I can't deny they do SOME good in the world. My purchases at that store directly fund that rehabilitation center. So whether it's for personal use or for monetary gain, who's business is that other than mine?
Anyways! Hasn't happened here on TH-cam yet, but I get the "poor people" lecture fairly frequently on TikTok and it can put me in a bad mood haha.
And as always - appreciate your support and thoughts!

I'm in the middle of reorganizing the lego room, so haven't been able to get to it yet! But I think it'll be the first big project once we're settled. And thanks!

Hello matey how you doing hope you are all well ,now lego investment is a funny thing ,you said you bought that hidden side set and will hold on to it for a year , i dont do investment lego as i see it the money spent on the set to sit there doing nothing for a year in the hope the price will go up seems daft to me ,if you were really lucky you may double your money but that will take a year or more. The money you spent could have been used to buy something else ,sold it ,invested in something else and so on and so on , to me investing does not make your money grow ,sorry that is just my thoughts ,keep the vids coming looking forward to the next one.

I have 3 sets (well, 4 now) that I'm letting sit just as an experiment. The Hidden Side seems to have a decent fan base. I realize it's not going to appreciate in value nearly as much as a retired Star Wars set, but it's something I figure worth trying with such a low entry point at purchase. We'll see how it goes, I guess!

Eventually if you are good you will make more money than you can ever convert into more inventory. So this side money either has to sit in a bank or get put into investments which rarely appreciate more than high value Lego sets. I put $179 into Voltron sets 4 years ago that are now worth near $500 at Christmas. I was holding out for a rumored live action Voltron that didnt get mad but I recently heard Amazon has started devolping one for Prime. I have never been cash strapped so I may as well put some into Lego sets that I believe in. There was a time in that 3 years where Voltron could be had for $140 on eBay. Even if you bought the Market at the 2020 low Voltron has out-performed. I've never thought of my investment money as doing nothing. I have thought of me doing nothing while it grows.

@@jorejaha Hello the point i was trying to make is that it can take over a year for the prices to increase let me give you an example of what i mean say you spend $100 on an item and save it for a year or if you spent $100 dollars on some items then sold them increasing pot to say £200 then reinvest it in more stock sell that for say $400 the money you could make would be greater than what an investment would be .but each to their own i know which way i would go make a quick buck and just keep doubling it every time .thank you for the reply
