Sir When should the dead man alarm must be switched on?

The dead man alarm can be switched on..
1 * when engineer on watch is going to attend any alarm during UMS period.
* The alarm should be reseted within a period of time usually 3-15 mins...
* if not reseted the ships alarm system will come in operation to alert the ship crew.
2) If the attendant in engine room watch when going for a routine check in engine room.
