    Do you always drypack your clutches. Most wet them or even soak them in ATF before a rebuild. Is there any reason in particular you don't?

      Yes. Never seen a difference one way or the other. Most builders that I know don't do it either. The are certain instances I will but 99 percent of the time I don't.

    thank you for your video learned alot, my transmission when i put it into drive hit the gas it hesitates for a second slams into drive like i am peeling out could it be a valvebody problem ? let me know what you think thank you.....

      Probably a sticking forward engagement control valve. Pretty common. Sonnax makes a valve for it. Helps to resize the bore. The tool for it is hard to come by now.     I have this transmission in my 2002 Ford Taurus, OHV V6, 245K miles. When the transmission heats up, it sometimes has trouble going from 1st to 2nd. Very intermittent. I can feel 1st disengage and it goes into neutral, then harshly goes to 2nd. Any idea what the culprit is?
    I've maintained it well over the years with fluid drain/fills and filter changes. No codes.

      A cracked intermediate piston or a weak 1-2 capacity modulator valve spring will cause those symptoms. Since it is intermittent I would lean towards the spring. Superior makes a spring for it K084.

      @@CurmudgeonTransmission Thanks for the reply. That definitely sounds like a professional job. I'm good at DIY, but not for internal transmission stuff.
      Some people online had the same symptoms as me with the 4F50N (AX4N) and fixed it by replacing the speed sensor. My speed sensor recently got doused in ATF when changing out some power steering hardware. Plus, it sits on top of the transmission casing, thus the delayed effect for heat? Could I be this lucky? Because I can definitely change the speed sensor myself.

      It's possible. There is supposed to be a heat sheild around the sensor to protect it from the exhaust.
