#SANIBEL #CAPTIVA #SANIBELISLAND #CAPTIVAISLAND
Tween Waters was the very first place on the islands my wife and I stayed. I think it was 1982. The next year we went to South Seas and we’ve been there ever since. We still love to go to the Olde Captiva House to eat, especially for breakfast! The canopy on the S-curve got destroyed in Hurricane Charley, but, it grew back! It probably will again. Thank you again for this terrific video!
You promised! You delivered! Thank you for doing this! Nick, you got demoted to the back seat!
Lol Yes he was a bad boy. 🤣
Thank you for this update. Great to see how fast the things are going on. ✊🤠🇺🇸
Yes it’s very encouraging!
Thank you so much for the video, my parents lived on Captiva 16861 from 82 to 2012 have been through many hurricanes Keith, Charlie, Gabriel on 911,and more the worst one was Charlie stayed at Ritz-Carlton for 3 months. My favorite restaurant was Green flash and the Thistle lodge on Sanibel I miss it so much again thank you for the video.
Oh wow - we were here for Charley. How wonderful that your parents lived on Captiva for so long. All the best to you!
Thank you very very much 😊
Amazing progress. Thanks so much.
Thanks for watching!
So good to see things moving along! Can’t wait to visit again
Thank you for the updates
You are so welcome!
Another great video . I live in Australia and love florida lifestyle
Awesome! Thank you!
We really appreciate and look forward to your videos!
Awesome! Thank you!
Thoroughly ENJOY everything you guys have put out!! Thank You!! Appreciate the updates of both Sanibel and Captiva! Keep them coming!!
Thank you! Will do!
Last I heard, South Seas hopes to open in September 2023. There is quite a bit of construction that is a hot topic of debate amongst South Seas property owners.
Yes we heard that!
Thanks for this video I haven’t seen much out there like this. So sad this happened but such an amazing place.
Yes very sad but we are positive for the future!
@@TheSanibelCaptivaGuide yeah! Right on! 😀
Thank you so much for doing this 💗 wish I was there, I'd definitely be stocking up at Beach Stuff
😀Yes it was quite a sale!
Thank you! It’s good to know how Captiva Island doing
You are so welcome 🤗
Good morning! Thanks for the videos and information. My wife and I are timeshare owners in the South Seas Island Resort on Captiva. If you'd like, I can send you the latest communication from the new owners, Timbers Resorts. It spells out their vision, construction timelines/goals and gives you an idea when the resort will be up and running.
My family has been visiting Sanibel and Captiva for 30 years. We
have seen several storms come through. We've also witnessed what it takes to return to pre-hurricane form. The foliage always comes back more beautiful than before, but some businesses will never return. It's nice to see the Old Captiva House at Tween Waters back so quickly. One of our favorite places to eat.
Thanks again. The information from Timbers is detailed and is public information. Putting it on here would be good publicity for them. Their vision is a grand one.
Hi Dion. Yes thank you we would love to share the information about South Seas. We have a several people ask. We were in the resort last week.
@@TheSanibelCaptivaGuide I guess it was too much? I posted it but I don't see it anymore.
Let’s try it this way. Send to thesancapguide@gmail.com.
Hi I’m also a timeshare owner on South Seas it has been in my husbands family for about 40 years. I have not seen this info of the timeline can you tell me where I may find It? All I’ve seen is possible Sept 2023. Thank you. 🌴
Thank You!!
You're welcome!
Lots of fond memories from the Tween Waters Inn. ❤❤
Tween Waters is a special place!
See you on the next one !🍍
How about The Sanctuary community? You were kind to recommend a history book about The Sanctuary a couple years ago, that we were able to view at the Sanibel Library…best wishes from your Ohio followers ! 🚴🏻♂️🚴🏻♂️
Hello hello. Great to hear from you Penny!
Captiva Shores looks DEVASTATED!
So nice to see green yards again !!! Alllll that sand would drive me crazy !!! Glad alittle bit of normal peeking !!!!
You and me both!
Surprised to see 4+ months later Ian... 90% of Sanibel and Captiva is still closed. Looks like it might be a year or two before recovery really begins.
So sad! I lived on Fort Myers Beach in 1974. So sad. There was big money on those islands back then!
Yes very sad for all the area. Hopefully you gave good memories from your time here.
Is all that vegetation and the trees going to come back ?
I have Read on the Mucky Duck they did a soft opening but right now its Cash only they posted on their FB page 2 days ago
Yes such great news They opened on Thursday.
So how to get to Sanibel and Captiva from the main land?
Are the beaches actually open?
Does anyone know if the Sandhurst Estate " Pink House" survived? I have rented it several times.
Love that home! The front yard looked a bit rough but the outside of the house itself looked ok. Not sure about the inside.
Wow! Gonna be a long time before things are back to 100% .
Yes afraid so.
Thanks for the video. Sadly, I remember Captiva as a mostly undeveloped retreat. I visited the Mucky Duck when there was a ferry to the island and only a few residents. My grandparents owned the Mucky Duck; grandmother was the cook and grandfather managed the cottages where we stayed. Sad to see so much development. I will cherish the memories of a beautiful, unspoiled environment circa 1958 before “ecology” and “climate change” became the lexicon of a new era.
How very cool! What were your grandparents names? How long did they own it?
@@TheSanibelCaptivaGuide Roy and Dorothy Wedekind. I don’t know how long they owned it-sometime in the 1950’s. My aunt Sarah Bailei, their daughter, met her husband there. John Bailey was a member of the family that donated some of there land for the Bailey-Matthews Reserve on Sanibel Island. My grandparents moved to Tennessee in the 1960’s and later returned to LaBelle, FL
Sarah Bailey now lives in Jacksonville.
Any news on Laika Lane homes?
Thanks for this. Until your awful hurricane we visited Sanibel Island a couple of times and want to come back again soon. It’s so different to anything we have in England! Are you going to do an update soon? We are hoping things may be good enough for February 2024. We previously stayed at South Seas Island resort and hope to do the same again. What are our chances?
We filmed an update on Captiva today. Will be released next week!
Is there anywhere for the public to park so that they can go on the beach to look for shells, Or is it only private access?
Unfortunately not yet. The city announced that some of the public parking spots will open soon.
@@TheSanibelCaptivaGuide ok Thank you! I’ll be coming to Florida at the end of February and beginning of March. Hopefully they open soon!🤞🏽 loved seeing some of the greenery still!
How is the debris ( man-made ) disposed of ??
One of their Sanibel videos explains that process and shows a couple of the piles.
How Did The Bubble Room.Make out?
Still standing. They have a pop-up shop in Fort Myers at the moment. Hopefully will be back soon!
Mucky Duck just opened! Want a window seat? They’ll roll the window over to you!
Yes! So funny.
How many hours have you spent helping people cleaning out homes? How many hours have you spent cleaning debris? You are driving around making videos and making money from a disaster.
Lost count of how many demo hours we have done. Our Sanibel business was totally destroyed, our house was flooded as well as a second property and my parents home. Believe me it’s not fun.
@@TheSanibelCaptivaGuide These disasters are life changing, thanks for taking some time to let all know how these places are doing. Even when your heart is hurting, it is important to document. I so know. Take care. San-Cap strong.
@@TheSanibelCaptivaGuide we really appreciate you guys !
I remember back in the late ' 80's when I worked at the Lazy Flamingo.....the area on main drag by Tween Waters had no beach...just holders ....And the homes are off the charts ....none were there back in the day! Use to gomdrinking atbthe ole hole in the wall Timmy's Nook!
Very cool! Wish Timmy's Nook was still around!
I was born on sanibel and yes they have mail boxes
