- Excessive heat warnings might be expiring soon, but the PNW is still experiencing record breaking temperatures.
Q/A:
1. Is that a real IntelliStar 1 SD unit? Yes
2. Can you give me graphics/resources/software? No. The contents of the IntelliStar system is still copyrighted, and cannot be shared. While the hardware was purchased legally, that does not give me the right to share it with others. (Think about how you don't have the right to freely give people copies of a DVD you own)
3. Can you record a Star for me at (some location)? I typically don't do requests as it takes quite a long time to manually set up and configure the unit.
4. This should be preserved. The system is dead. Why won't you give it out? While yes, the system in question has been discontinued from active use, elements of the software are still copyrighted and in use in newer versions of the IntelliStar.

Wow, that 50 degree difference across an 80-mile distance from Portland to Astoria is pretty hard to believe.
Did you read my mind or something? This is exactly where I expected today's IS1 video to be. Love seeing the IS1 during extreme heat (or any weather event for that matter)

It amazes me how the temps reach the lower 60s during the night, but go to record high temps during the day
Dry air cools off more at night than humid air does
I can't think of any long standing station period of record that has ever broken an ALL-TIME record of 9 DEGREES like Portland, Oregon did that year. Old record was 107 degrees set in 1981 and the new record is 116 degrees. This was definitely a once in thousand plus year event and not possible not too long ago.

@@alexlautzenheiser5024 know, but how did Oregon get to 114 degrees when it never gets that hot and plus, I live in Texas and even I never have temperatures in the 110s
Yeah humid air typically doesn't get as hot as 114F. Even in places that are humid that can get temps at 109F or so like Houston did in 2000, 2011, and 2023 it was drier than typical during those crazy heat waves. Still more humid than Portland but less humid than what Houston typically is in the summer yeah.
Furthermore, yeah the more humid areas are the higher than overnight lows are. For example Denver, Atlanta, and Galveston average around the same high temperature during July at around 90F but the average lows are different. Denver is fully dry and averages a low near 60F in July. Atlanta is moderately humid and averages a low slightly above 70F during the same month. Finally Galveston is super humid and averages a low near 80F in the same month!

Well, I'm pretty sure it'd be illegal for him to send out the graphics/resources from a real STAR, so therefore, he has to make it known that he can't send out graphics/resources, to save himself the frustration of other people asking for them (which people still do once in a while), and having to remove the comments. Maybe he could remove bad language, but he has to make sure people understand that it is illegal to distribute equipment from a real TWC STAR (I was one of the people who didn't understand at first).
He can’t, unless he wants TWC to come after him with a lawsuit, which I doubt he does.

@@dylanbennett4097 but that still doesn’t make sense. He is clearly already using the equipment. Wouldn’t you think they’d already be coming after him with a lawsuit?
