Thanks for sharing! I walked into the store with absolutely no interest in owning Kavi, and walked out mentally replanning some of my budget so that I can get her later this year. She's so much prettier in person, especially with her hair done in those space buns. I still don't like many of her outfits, the yoga and Bollywood being the exception, but I can't resist a theatre kid. I wish they'd had her book separately available, though. Yep - I like the same two outfits as you. I know we're going to end up with more of the collection than I want because my wife wants some things I don't and we have separate doll budgets, but that's okay.
My oldest daughter is adopted from India and arrived home in 1983. She took Indian Classical Dance when she was young. The dance dress is fairly accurate. Usually the dance dresses are made from saris. They usually have bells around their ankles, but I guess you could make them. The only other outfit I liked was the yoga set. I preferred it to the pajamas. I'll probably get her eventually.
I don't like the pjs at all lol, but like you I'm a fan of the yoga (and Bollywood) outfit. And yes, the ankle bells would be challenging to make but not undoable.
Thank you for the tour! I think Kavi is gorgeous! Not loving how cheap and plasticky her collection looks, but the musical theater hobby is fun. I doubt I will get her since I have the similar 66 as well as other Indian dolls. I have to be picky because 50 dolls is a lot to have! My favorite things in her collection are her Bollywood outfit and purse.

Yeah. We decided we can either find a partial Tenney's stage used and adapt that or make one from scratch rather than spend $300+ (after taxes) on that very flimsy stage.

Thank you for the video, it really shows everything and in detail. As you know I don't live in the US, but I don't think I'd have a problem resisting buying. The Doll is very pretty, I just find it a bit hard to define alot of them. But never say never. I did like the dance outfit. I also liked the pink travel outfit. I think it's super interesting/bizarre that AG made 2 truly me dolls be "apart of" Kavi's collection. Not sure how I feel about it lol. I'm also not super impressed with her collection yet. Her accessories don't seem super great quality or like it comes with enough pieces to make it worth the price. I'm not really interested in her clothes either. I wish she came with just a regular everyday outfit. I do love her Bollywood dance costume and I like her yoga outfit.
I think so many of us are on the same page lol - yes to the Bollywood and yoga outfits and meh to the rest. I'm currently editing my unboxing video (we got the doll and five pieces from her collection) so hopefully I address your quality questions there. I definitely feel like it's a mixed bag with this GOTY.
They don't even have to be super durable. If they made a pack of 5 large cardboard backgrounds for each named doll, they'd probably do very well. They don't need to be the thick, heavy books like Pleasant Company made for the earlier historicals - just mimic what they put in their store displays.
100% concur that AG should sell those Backdrops! I remember with My Life As made 18inch doll backdrops, and I really do wish somebody would bring those back.
It's enough to make me want to get a (VER) part-time job at our local store just to see if I can ever score their backdrops when they're ready to retire them!

Glad you liked it! We're lucky to have access to a store (for the moment - just learned the Houston store is closing and hoping we aren't next) and I love being able to visit it regularly and "share the wealth" by posting footage on occasion.
I miss the Columbus store. It's so nice to see the store in this video. I love that you respect people's privacy. I don't post my kids pictures (faces) on any social media platform. It's so nice to see that even in this day and age others can respect others privacy. I've made a lot of family and friends mad about not posting my kids pictures. But once it's on the internet it's there forever. So thank you for always respecting others. Kavi is cute, and I do love her. She's not in my collection at the moment, but maybe I'll get her if she goes on sale around the holidays.
I post my daughter's picture on my private FB page (and recognize that is not without risk) but I don't post her face on any public social media (IG, TH-cam, etc). I also don't post pics of, for example, her dance class on my FB acct because I don't have permission from the other parents and children. I am regularly taken aback by how many people don't show this consideration for other people's privacy when they're creating content.

And tho its a private account and we have under 100 friends on there (mainly family) we decided for us just to keep the kids faces off any social media. We share their names and will talk about them, (small things, vaca, etc.) but don't share their sweet faces. I can't tell you how mad we've made people. And all family pictures we always take two pictures, one with my family and one without my family. That way they can share a picture without my kids in it. So I really appreciate that you care about others privacy.
Ah, thank you so much for this! It's fun how much I usually end up liking things more from folks' actual photos, over AG's advertisements. I'd gone into today expecting that I would prefer 117 over Kavi simply because of their wigs (though I like Kavi's darkness, I tend not to prefer perfectly straight), but I don't know, now I'm thinking that I actually prefer Kavi. The orangeness comment got me - I've a Maritza and it took me ages to get over how orange her tone is. That and, I'd like to support with my money an explicitly character of colour. I'm excited to see when things go up for sale on the site, what each groupings includes - and to be frank, what separate item comes up as available parts on ebay (I'd just been trying to figure out how to craft a 1:3 scale neon light, prior to the leaks).
Yeah - I'm noticing that Kavi's hair isn't actually straight - it has a bit of an outward flip at the ends. But yes, the darker hair and the lack of orange make her much more appealing to me. We have a Maritza (Grace bought her) and I still don't really feel a connection to her. I think she looks loads better since I removed her lower lashes but I still just don't love her and I know it's the orange tone. I would also be interested in a few of the smaller pieces of her "big ticket items" if they make their way to eBay and BST pages on FB. But no way would I pay $295 for that stage set. I'd rather create my own that would be sturdier and a fraction of the cost.
I love Kavi. She's on my wish list... In my opinion, her collection looks poor; too much plastic and the outfits seem to be made of materials that are not very rich in quality. Maybe in person is better. Thanks for the video :) Cheers

Yay - an improvement over my last Columbus tour video - I remembered to turn the phone sideways so that I could make the footage fill the whole screen on this video lol. Live and learn ;-) I'm glad you enjoyed it.
@@agtakesover I never even noticed that you shot the Columbus tour in portrait and this one in landscape. My son always yells at my husband when he films footage for fishing reports, for our fishing tackle stores, in portrait instead of landscape, so you would think I would notice things like that. :)

I honestly think the trunk is the best I like the items in the trunk I am still not sure about the doll just because the twins are coming out in February so I will wait on her
I think ppl comparing her trunk to Gabriela's or Marisol's might be a little disappointed by its light, plastic composition. But next to the stage, the trunk is well-made and a much better deal.
