Pour sa participation à Fine Arts Paris Online, Applicat-Prazan présentera une sélection de tableaux abstraits de la seconde Ecole de Paris.
De grands formats alterneront avec de plus petits et composeront un ensemble représentatif de l’art abstrait de l’après-guerre en Europe.
Fondée en 1989 par Bernard Prazan, la galerie s’est consacrée exclusivement dès l’origine aux grands peintres ayant travaillé à Paris après la seconde guerre mondiale.
Depuis 2004, Franck Prazan, fils de Bernard, dirige la galerie.
Au fil des années et depuis bientôt 30 ans, Applicat-Prazan est devenue une galerie internationale d’art moderne, leader sur son marché. Elle possède 2 espaces à Paris : une galerie Rive gauche, 16 rue de Seine, au cœur du quartier de Saint-Germain-des-Prés et un second espace rive droite, au 14 avenue Matignon à deux pas des Champs Elysées. Elle participe également aux plus importantes foires internationales :Art Basel à Bâle, Hong Kong et Miami, TEFAF à Maastricht et New York, Frieze Masters à Londres et la FIAC à Paris.
Applicat-Prazan est monospécialiste de l’Ecole de Paris des années 50 et a concentré son expertise sur les artistes les plus significatifs de cette période. Sa quête d’excellence la conduit également à ne retenir que les œuvres qu’elle juge les plus importantes pour chacun de ces artistes.
À Fine Arts Paris, Applicat-Prazan présentera notamment cette magnifique composition de Georges Mathieu intitulée "Simone de Montigny" datant de 1958 et mesurant 87 cm x 146 cm.
Georges Mathieu, considéré comme le maître de l’abstraction lyrique, affirmait que, dans les faits, chaque tableau était pour lui une bataille. Il s'engageait dans l'acte de peindre comme dans un combat. Et lorsqu'il en sortait, c'est après avoir triomphé de la toile blanche.
Il disait aussi: « Je suis le peintre de la vitesse. La rapidité de l’action est la seule possibilité pour laisser passer ce qui vient du plus profond de l’être. Les titres de mes tableaux sont de simples indications qui n'ont aucune signification littérale. »

For its participation in Fine Arts Paris Online, Applicat-Prazan will be presenting a selection of abstract paintings of the Seconde Ecole de Paris. This selection will include a variety of large and smaller paintings representing post-war abstract art.
Founded in 1989 by the art collector Bernard Prazan, the gallery has been exclusively dedicated since its inception to the major painters working in Paris in the period after World War II. Franck Prazan, Bernard’s son, has directed the gallery since 2004.
Over the last 30 years, Applicat-Prazan has become an international modern art gallery, leader in its domain. The gallery has two sites in the city - one located at 16 rue de Seine in the heart of the Saint-Germain-des-Près neighbourhood on the left bank and a second site on the right bank just off the Champs Elysées at 14 avenue Matignon. The gallery participates in the most significant international art fairs including Art Basel in Switzerland, Hong Kong and Miami, TEFAF in Maastricht and New York, Frieze Masters in London and the FIAC in Paris.
Applicat-Prazan is hyper-specialized in the Ecole de Paris of the 1950’s and focuses its expertise on the most significant artists of this period. Our quest for excellence leads us to select only paintings by these artists that we consider to be of outstanding quality.
At Fine Arts Paris, Applicat-Prazan will be presenting this magnificent 1958 composition by Georges Mathieu called Simone de Montigny which measures 87 cm x 146 cm.
Georges Mathieu, considered to be the master of abstraction lyrique, used to say that the execution of each of his paintings was like a battle. And when he got to the end of it, the result was a triumph over the white canvas.
He also used to say” I am a painter of speed. Rapidity of action is the only way to allow that which arises from the bottom of our being to be revealed”.
