I bought some sturdy extra grip hiking boots the other day, hearing that leg press story I’m going to wear these boots every gym sesh for now on! 😆 That story was crazy!
That Ibuprofen story was good gave me a proper laugh I've trained for like 10 years and 3 proper ones I've never used the leg press seriously ever from seeing those Leg press videos when I was 13
The leg press story, that actually hurt to hear. The guy that fell down dead: I was a nurse, I had a super morbidly obese nurse aide that worked with me, she was in her early 30s. One day standing in the nurse's station talking to me her eyes got wide and she it the floor. We tried everything, she was gone. When someone goes like that there's no coming back. Enjoyed the stories Faz, just came back from the gym and I was able to do my dumbbell bicep curls with 20 lb. weights, was only able to do 5 reps but I did 3 sets! I'm so chuffed, lol. Not bad for an old lady. Have a great weekend!
😅 you had me cracking up when you're talking about a guy dying while you're laughing uncontrollably, then you say, "ok, this next one is tragic." It's a guy who gets hurt bad. After, you tell the next story of your friend nearly dying, and you bust up laughing again 😅. Damn, Faz! You morbid!!!😅😅😅😅
Great video. The gym that used to be across the road from me was great, with an odd mix. It was mostly all Mums doing spin bike on one side, and all massive strongmen on the other. You'd'e have these occasionally weird sights: A 25 stone strongman having trouble lacing up his squat shoes, and one of the Mum's getting to her knees and saying "Just leave it, I'll do it for you." or another 25 stone strongman giving one of the Mums a hit of ammonia before a max cadence test on the spin bike.
I regularly train at a gym in Norway. Norway is so anti-steroid that I've spoken to guys that have had calls from the government telling them to remove certain photos from their insta because "they look too steroid userish". The gym I train at is a bodybuilding gym, and will occasionally have gov't "random" testers arrive. Then anyone who can runs out the back door lol. I just flash the British passport and they say "carry on sir", without testing me.
Great stories - old gym stories are the best! Although I couldn't even listen to the calf press on the leg press machine story. I saw the same thing happen to a female lifter, was so brutal, it hurts to even think about it. I also saw a guy grab the 45lb plate off the bar on a bench - he was removing the weight, so sliding it off the bar, but forgot there was a 25lb plate on also. That 25lb plate slipped of and squashed his big to as if it were a tomato. I just about lost my lunch. He went to the hospital and was back in the gym the next day, but almost lost that toe.
I once circumsised myself on a plate loaded reverse hyper by getting the tip of my johnson between the hinge and then just snap on the first rep and blood everywhere
That's the single one reason I would never try to do calf raises on a leg press, even if I don't use that much weight. I know there are no inherently dangerous exercises, but...
That point around 6:15 with a completely steamed up gym sounds crazy especially doing a leg press in those conditions. I've been in similiar steamed up conditions in boxing gyms in the past with a ton of people in the winter with no central heating but worse case you just kind of slip a bit on the floor or heavy bag not having a whole leg press chassis slam down on you. The barbell squat for me is unironically less intimidating than the leg press for me even as a guy with weird leverages for the squat. Anyway, cool video, the narratives around lifting culture are cool - like the old school 'Complete Keys to Progress' bodybuilding books by McCallum and their funny/interesting/tragic anecdotes.
That would be a downgrade, this one was pretty high end. I think something about the computer is the limiting factor rather than the mic. So I'm buying a whole new set up soon. Just researching the best options for good sound and video quality.
@@Fazlifts Not sure you need to do that. You probably need to sort the levels out properly. Perhaps you know someone IRL or could hire someone to sort your levels or drivers
Damn... That leg press story made me cringe while you were saying it, that is really rough... On top of that I have a question as well Faz (on a gym stories video I know...) I see people always mentioning how when you are too low body (around 10-12%) fat and trying to "maingain" you are not gonna see much results as a natural lifter in a huge majority of the cases, what if you're kind of on the other side of the spectrum and always move around (18-20%), is it needed that you increase your insulin sensitivity while dropping to lower body fats and then coming back up, or can you maintain a higher body fat without the cut and bulk cycles, I know that pretty much points towards "But you're always gonna be fat then" true, I'm just asking in the gains department I guess 😅
This is one thing I've actually changed my mind on over the years. I will make a full video on it soon. In short I don't think matters as much as I used to.
Man I just noticed I somehow got unsubbed 3 months ago. Catching up on all the missed uploads, this one was fun to listen to while doing chores this morning.
Oh man... as soon as I heard leg press, calf raises, and slippery metal, I knew what was coming. Snap city
Albeit tragic, I won't deny that second story sent me 😂
I could barely get my words out 😂
5:00 I legit laughed hard when you lost it roflmao
😂😂 it still gets me
Congrats to 10k! You are perfect for new content for lifters 50+ like me.
Thanks!
I'd like more of these from time to time haha

British humour at it's finest, we gotta laugh 'cos we certainly don't have the weather😂😂😂
4:40 God damn it, you made me laugh man lol

Really enjoyed this one. Very cool idea that not many people share about 💯
Damn, not sure how I missed this... there needs to be a whole different playlist/ series for these stories Faz lol.

Gym horror stories by Faz. I like it. Never had the gym in my mind like that.

😐😐😄😂😄😐😲😲😨😨😲😳😆 Reaction to the second one.
Man, Canadian gyms are boring AF. I need to train in the UK
What part of England are these stories set in lol?
Midlands
Also you can get a blue snowball for like 30 odd quid

Low key I want a new gaming set up too
But yeah you're probably right, settings need tuning.
@@Fazlifts I think if you just made your mic only hear louder sounds it would be a lot better.
Fair I love my setup 2

what happened to the paracetamol guy, did he go back to lifting after that
He was okay from what I heard
That 1st guy was based
Yeah he really was a solid bloke. Last I heard he sold the gym and opened up a Cafe in town.
👌
