Gotta respect Melle Mel for having a diss track saved since 1989
What’s funny is that Eminem barely gave him a half a bar and still won! Killed The Game and Melle Mel. Two birds one stone
@RebelGoku13 Em killed 3 birds with 1 stone he killed Melle Mel, Game and Lord Jamar pmsl The Mans just that Damn Good
@dandieabbott5409 I don't think he was really throwing shots at Lord Jamar. I'm pretty sure him and Jamar got on the phone And squashed their beef, Em acknowledged he is a guest in the house and Yada Yada. I could see how it would seem like he is throwing shade on him though.
I never seen a rapper lose a battle then have his lawyer write an official statement.
Maybe Jay Z, after dropping Super Ugly, his mom had him apologize 🤷🏽♂️
Exactly! There ain't no way that roid head gunna write that "pc" diatribe, lol.
Lmfao for real g that statement was more technical than any song he’s made since 1879
“It would be the easiest thing I ever did” 😂😂😂
What an insane statement
You know damn well Melle Mel didn't write the apology most likely somebody from his team did
@@pecoliawilliams145 yeah the apology was better written so you know it couldn't have been him
@@cak17 exactly. He should have had some write the dis track. He would have lost but still
@@pecoliawilliams145 that's my point if he hired a Ghostwriter it wouldn't have been as bad he still would have lost
It’s crazy watching the same people talk about the troubles of being treated differently because of skin color, treat someone differently because of skin color.
I think Melle Mel meant the white culture of American business that infiltrated Hip Hop and turned it into something far worse. And remember Melle Mel is from the boomer generation, back then when racism was a WHOLE lot severe than today buddy, so him seeing what the American bisinesses and marketing did to Hip Hop...understandable why he was pissed off.
@@danielnelson3136 yeah but it would take Melle a whole 5 minutes to figure out that em' isn't exactly the in the typical group of white people of America. And focusing on Eminem's colour is exactly what they shouldn't do if they truly cared about racism.
.its crazy how quiet eminem is-we never hear from him but people are always taking shots at him
Picking a beef with him is always purely clout chasing. No one really does believe they can out spit him and even the ones that are up there with his word play recognize game 😂😂
Because Eminem is over rated and his fanbase nut hugs him to death. Eminem hides behind his fanboys. He never went after real smoke.
@@younglove3362confirm your opinions first before posting it on social media 🤦🏻♂️
@@younglove3362it's ok to be wrong, but willfully ignorant is shameful. With 10 minutes of searching you'll find out how wrong you are. I'm not a bias Stan either. It's facts dude.
Hiphop is weird about letting OGs be completely weird and damaging to current hiphop. They can go at anyone and trash everyone who came after, but if someone reacts the industry will turn their back on them. The only saving grace here is that Eminem is one of the best, and that Melle came with the wackest diss since the early 80s.
he is literally racist and everyone's like "He doesn't mean it like that" well, how does he mean it??
@@UrBnZombie Yeah he posted something mean about his ex at 15 ( he's done MUCH worse to his white baby mama later on )...Melly Mell is a grandfather talking like that
He shouldn't diss Em, he should be dissing these mumble rappers thats corrupting the game, Em is actually saving the game. 🤷🏾♂️💯
Eminem is saving the game by making millions of STANs and 100s of those YT fake rappers copy him???
@@danielnelson3136 yeah those stans include Kendrick, J.cole, Joyner lucas, Tyler the creat, Hopsin, Big sean and goes on..
so yeah he save the game.
That melle Mel clip at the end was straight cap😂. Just because you’re a pioneer doesn’t mean you’re the greatest rapper in the universe
That's like saying the Ford Model T is the best car. It might have been the first car (not sure if it was), but there have been better cars since then.
Mel is a pioneer and a legend in hip hop. I lost respect for him because of the things he said. It would have been better to say that in a face to face because Mel is one of the foundations that current hip hop stands on. Em has, or had, respect for Mel. The 80s passed a long time ago and that’s where Mel needs to stay
That apology was too well written you know he didn’t write it! 😂
Melle mel just wanted to use Eminem to become his resurrection. Regardless of wins or losses, I think everyone these days just say shxt about Shady since it is the fastest way to get more exposure. Look at Machine Bun Jelly.
eminem intentioanlly dissed him to boost his career it's like clickbait. it's not hit em up an :d
@@AtticusHatzis23483 Melle Mel started this, there is a limit to how retarded you could comprehend shxt.
Eminem is truly talented at first i didn't mind of his lyricism but growing up i realized he was good🙏🏼🤞🏼
Yo Mel’s response was so futuristic. This man knew Eminem was coming out in 86 when he wrote that diss track.😂
Mel picked the wrong guy to challenge. Em lit him up.
When you see Mel shake his head while saying he can beat Eminem in a battle rap is a physical sign he is lying and he was only speaking from a racist or pride standpoint IDGAF what anyone says.
Yeah, body language expert here. Seen that clip and yes his little shake there was him disagreeing with himself there, also that dubious delight he did later is a non-verbal tell that he knew and was feeling guilty pleasure of lying, or in this case exaggerating his ability to compete against Eminem.
Sure you could say he was speaking from pride, less from racist point, but the nugget of truth to his words here is actually he's right about the American white culture businesses and marketing taking Hip Hop and corrupting it from within. In that point he's totally right.
As much respect as I have for what Mel did for Hip Hop, I do NOT want to see him on any track especially with Em unless someone ghost writes that shit because after that “diss track” he came at Em with was as old as he is. The beat even felt like 1987
The problem is people are too quick to take offense and to insult. Culture is gone, respect is gone, patience is gone, and all that remains is ego. Ego is never permanent.
Em giving props to Mel on a world stage was a classy move. That asshole kept shitting on him even after that lol.🤯
"LL Cool J Vs. Kool Moe Dee: Who REALLY Won". You make those videos very well! Would love to see this classic hip hop battle be covered.
More KRS love. He had beef with so many people. DJ Kenny Parker goes into a lot of it on his YT channel but not with the clips and editing that takes it to the level of this channel.
Mel took his distrack back. That says a lot. 😂
Em for the 🏆
when the words YOU'RE A RACIST is thrown around I've heard black people say I CANT BE RACIST because I'm BLACK.
And that statement gets under my SKIN because Anyone can be RACIST and Melle mel is a perfect example of THAT. smh
Prejudice is the word you are looking for. Racism is a system of oppression. Black people do not have the power or desire to oppress any other race.
It would have taken you a lot less time and effort to do a google search for "what does 'racist' mean?" than to immortalize your ignorance here. be better
I love both Melle Mel and Eminem. I was just enjoying these two legends go back n' fourth.
should have either been a friendly collab or a fierce battle, not this underhwelming brain fart that leaves a bad taste in the mouth for Mel's legacy
Great documentary as usual! Thanks for breaking down a fight that made no sense to me. Em should accept the apology.
This is probably one of the funniest beefs in hip hop😂 what a time to be alive!!
The youtube reactors held nothing back against Melle Mel😂😂
This was like if George Mikan randomly came out of nowhere and said he would easily beat Shaq 1 on 1😂😂
Eminem is the winner 🎉❤
@@FunkSwaggMusiKWouldn't matter, literally nobody can take on Em....nobody.
@@XXIIXIIIXXXIXXXIXu joking . Eminem hasnt deatdiyed no one. K rino desteoyed eminem already
Hey, Diverse! Great video! One question: what is your favorite flavor / brand of popcorn?
16:00 how many "new school" people does melle mel see in his eyes. Like Wayne and 50 Cent are now considered "old school"
Anyone who came after his era. He's an originator, everyone else simply pushes the culture forward that he helped establish.
I love that the apology was much better crafted than the diss track.
If its about money, fame and bitches then EM should be admired more by Melle because EM came from poverty and not once have I heard EM talk about having Rolce Royce, Multimillion Mansions and so on, he is so down to earth and just do what he was put to this GOD’s World to do, which is to share his talent and skills and at the same time inspire people who were in the same situation as he did and give us an uplifting to move forward with life no matter what obstacles might be in front of us. To me that’s what EM did and I will forever be thankful that I loved a hiphop artist work not because of color but by the message behind his work and platform
Exactly. Did Eminem have higher numbers by bringing in white fans who would not have listened to hip-hop? Sure, but you rarely see him boast about material possessions. He stays out of the limelight but will pop up every few years. Always gave respect to the game.
Even Melle Mel thinking hophop is his baby does not give him the right to diss the newer generation, when this generation idolize him.
Can we please get a
MC Eiht Vs DJ Quik
Who really won video
The people are demanding it Q !!!!
So by Mel's logic, Tiger Woods is only a top 5 golfer because he is black? Man, the illogical statements some people say are wild
Em was always using the skills he inherited and developed to go beyond the topics of other rappers. You would think that Melle Mel could appreciate that. I think Em will prob let this go. Old Em would probably pop off with three mix tapes by now.
Some people say that Em never beat or beefed with Credible rappers which is untrue he won against Canibus, Cage, Game, And Melle Mel those could all be considered credible MCs plus when he was on tracks with other true MCs like Jay Z, TI, Ludacris, Redman, Jadakiss, Styles P, Sheek Louch, etc he usually had the better verse more times then not yeah.
ICP too...after 30 years they are still successful...not many rappers can say that....
" Now, who's the king of these Rude, Ludacris, Lucrative Lyrics?" Eminem 🐐
I dont recall Eminem winning against Canibus. They just kinda stopped all of a sudden and occasionally they throw a jab at one another these days but they never truly did anything significant against the other.
No one can rhyme as good as Eminem black or white
A Who Really Won is now long overdue man
I think they meant in the literal term as in DM hasnt dropped one of those videos in a really long time
Great video. My first time seeing your stuff too. Awesome
Eminem on Cleaning Out My Closet, 2002: Let me take you back to 73.
Melle Mel on his diss: No, I'm gonna take us all back to 73.
You are about to deliver 🎉
Melle Mel don't like anyone after him that's clear as day even Method man said it
I'll always have massive respect for meth he got me into rap as a white kid from Northern Ireland I never really had an opportunity to hear rap until someone gave me the movie "how high" when I was like 14.
If meth said it, it's true in my mind.
If it was about skin color Eminem would have been noticed for a blip only, but his skill is impressive, his works ar entertaining, and he's adapted to the times. So he's been staying relevant due to the convergence of all of that.
Respect for putting that clip at the end of Melle Mel and respect to anyone that watched the whole thing.
The way they said what if I was white reminded me of the sticky fingers song lol
Eminem wins hands down
In 100 years, nobody will remember any of this, so, really? Did he?
@@jameswalker6956yes he did. And it will be remembered. Your naive to think hip hop history will just dissappear.
Look much respect to both of them. It was clear to me that they both love what they do. However, you have to see it the way Melle Mel sees it. What happened to HipHop? The foundation was love. Over the years the foundation changed. Yes I would love to see them on some tracks together. Again much respect to them both. Peace and Love. ❤
Even if you're generous enough to look at it from the angle they said about "what happened to his baby," you still have to see that he's just mad his baby is dating a white guy.
How can you say it's about love after watching him get pissed off at the fact that people love someone else and act aggressively jealous about it?
Yeah agree with responder. Op is waaay off…love how it’s ‘respect to both of them’ …so we respecting racism nowadays…copy
I guess he had an eloquent lawyer write his apology letter LOL
MM should do a music video for this track
And wear them shiny space ship outfits! 😂
"Regrettably, my perspective was ill-conceive"
WTF does that even mean? I thought dude was a writer 😂😂😂
You know what, I respect mel for doing that. It takes a big man to apologize and to write something that is three paragraphs long? It goes well for his legacy in the game
Now that it's been a while, I feel bad for Mel; listening to Kane's take and that interview at the end. Still, he should have just left Em alone. There was just no need to attack a man who holds the game and the art in such high regard; Mel seeing at it as his "baby" or not
Melle is a bitter old man who’s hating not only on Em but on any rapper who accomplished more than him and you can’t respect a man like that, he should be proud that what he helped build and start has gone global and worldwide specially when he still gets his flowers and is always mentioned among the legends of the rap game. He’s just mad the white boy does it better.
bullshit - Hip Hop is dead and if you do not get that watch the latest Doja Cat video again. It is over and Melle Mel has every right to mourn the death of his child.
Eminem hasnt done shit . I havent heard his music in almkst 10 years . Eminem music aj t getting played no more.
@@les-chouansyou listenin to the wrong hip hop artists. There’s plenty out there still spittin bars. Don’t just look at who’s famous.
Beefing with Eminem is like signing a career death warrant.
I hope you mean rappers remember he's had beef with pop stars who's careers weren't affected
They shouldve given OG rappers an induction into the R&R Hall of Fame.
Melle should have chosen a more accurate target for his frustration. Em deserves nothing but respect in the game. I guess clout chasing got too attractive for Melle
Mel such a legend he went back in time to make a diss track.
Em would destroy "this guy" in a battle be the easiest thing em would ever do
Mel dropped the newest old song i ever heard lmao
I like how that diss track was so bad he had to release a press statement which I think went through like 5 PR people's hands, it could not sound more fake if it wanted to:))
Nice video quake
I had never liked rap until I heard Eminem. I didn't realize he was white until one of my relatives bought Marshal Mathers' LP and showed me the cover. I grew up in Zimbabwe amid poverty, yet I managed to save enough money to buy Eminem CDs. Because I didn't have a CD player at home, I had to listen at friends' or family members' residences. I didn't even have electricity, but Em was too good to pass.
Who rewatching this after Tobey 🙋♂️
Only a fool would want this beef or take a side now. I love the way this ended. Respect.
Eminem, in my opinion, definitely did get a head start when he introduced a generation of white kids that a white guy can spit bars and get respect from the hip-hop community, which blew his record sales through the roof- he made rap mainstream for white people.
With that being said, Eminem definitely has talent and should be considered in any Top 100 list of greatest rappers of all time. He pays homage to all the greats before him and has a lot of respect for the culture, which is always an admirable quality.
Also, HUGE respect to Melly-Mel for admitting that he was wrong in the situation. I hope they were able to talk it out. 💯
@@chrisdunn2013 I don’t get it, are you inferring that Top 100 is too high or too low?
Em has to be top 10 even if you don’t like him. And in that top 10 he could be in any place.
@@markjones5567 He doesn’t HAVE to be, but it’s respectable to have him there because many people could argue for his placement. With that being said, it’s all about preference.
There’s plenty of people out there who don’t like Eminem, beyond just his skin color, with some actual valid critiques, especially with his newer stuff, that could make pretty solid arguments why Eminem isn’t Top 10.
@@JasperXIIIalthough I agree that there are people that don't like Eminem for many reasons most don't like him simple because of the color of his skin.
A collabo would blow out
Freestyle champ, crazy flow, puns and metaphors, clever wordplay, deep lyrical content, fast cadence anddd the guy write his own songs... EMINEM is the goat
Thank you for putting this video out. I am a complete fan of Melle Mel and i highly respect Eminem. It saddens me when childish idiots disrespect Melle Mel when they couldnt ever spit bars like Mel or Em yet write stupid comments. Never disrespect living legends. Melle Mel was first and first is Forever.
bro respect is earn not self claim, Elders fame got his time, and now new gen is time to shine
Legends never call themselves legend. Tbh dude is racist af. Eminem always shows respect to hiphop n how it was created n why. They just hate him cuz he is white n doing way better than him. I am from india n when people heard eminem first they thought he was black because TV's were rare back than. HipHop community was very less and very few people knew about eminem anx what he look like. But it was his Flow that got him so popular here. Still the most popular rapper in India from US hiphop industry is Eminem.
Eminem is trash . Eminem has since fell off and has no classic album. Mell mell originator of rap
50 cent even said black people are salty cuz a white boy does it better than them 🤷♂️
@Bendanna93 what all time classic albums does Eminem have? None. Eminem albums, for the most part, are substandard.
This has to be the funniest "beef" in hip-hop history

What Mel said is messed up on so many levels. That’s like saying Hendrix is only recognized as one of the greatest guitarists because he’s black. Or Neil deGrasse Tyson is only recognized as one of the smartest astrophysicists because he’s black. Em deserves his spot.
It was at that moment he knew......he fckd up

Mel is a legend if he won’t hate so much he would of going down as a legend but a lot of kids don’t know him or care who it is so now he’ll be known as the man who made the worst diss
Melle Mel is a Sour Old Man who hates on anyone that came after him. He’s hated on Ll Cool J, Lil Wayne and many others.
Eminem is my goat 🐐 shameful Melle did that after Em payed homage to him & many OGs in his hall of fame speech but Mel knows he was wrong and apologised.
Am shocked to think Mel thought he could go up against Em in the 1st place!! After listening to "The Kickback" 4X and realizing how outclassed Mel was it's like the US WW2 military vs themselves in 2023 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Aye, hold up the Universe. There might be some Aliens who can rap.😂😂😂
It's true hip hop was sort of ruined when it became "recorded". I never even realized it was something new to the world. I grew up surrounded by it and just thought it part of the whole music sound and scene all the way back in the sixties. I just considered it a different take on th 49s and 50s parent trap scene. Hip hop kept me alive through out all my roads that were filled with the well worn and known verse "truals and tribulations"
❤❤❤❤❤
It's like his version of old school is barley successful and new school is successful.
He should of dropped a album like game
Love Melle Mel , I wish there was a producer that could bring out their ability, Rick Rubin revive and modernize Danzig , Johnny Cash and Neil Diamond. Who in Hip hop can do that for artist like Mel , Rakim, Big Daddy Kane ?
Love my hip hop n love Johnny Cash too, I bought my Mum that Neil Diamond album for Mothers Day bout 15 yrs ago n it was actually a great album! Great to hear Em shouting out Masta Ace who he has always had love for.
Would have to be a humble mofo, and you won't find anybody in today's hip-hop who is humble, except maybe Andre 3000.
Melle Mel’s diss song did not sound like he was being serious. It sounded like an unserious song, where he did not really try. It was like satire.
To be fair Melly Mel made it about color, but please go take care of you grandchildren and enjoy life. Making a comeback or rather trying to make a comeback this is not the best way. Wait you mean this rap was old WOW why now.
Interviewer: name 5 greatest rapers aside yourself.
Big Daddy Kane: A...Me.
Mel had that A track ready 🤣
Its sad when an old man doesn't realize the only thing he can do... he can't do anymore without embarrassing himself. If this was Tennis Melle Mel is walking on to the court with a wooden racket.
After having every damn thing he's got, he still needs to convince himself that he's being held back somehow.
One controversial saying is Eminem only reached his heights because he's white. Now, what's controversial, is that it's partly true. Dre risked his career for Em. No one else in his circle believed he could be great because he's white. So being white had SOMETHING to do with it. But all in all, if he hadn't have met Dre, he would have had a harder time getting his music out there. And without Dre's mentorship, he wouldn't have been able to hone his craft as good. Basically it's just one human helping another human help you. No skin color.
When you're old and you haven't evolved as a rapper over the years, it's easy to be delusional thinking that your still the best from 1979 lol
