    I love when you use the single 😄 very pleasing and it actually looks like it gets a cleaner surface cut as well 😊

    Great comparison mate, double for me as a don't do very long formal hedges often where the single would be the best but I'm generally getting stuck into some overgrown area where I can chop back and fore with the double. Have a great week 👍 cheers

      Cant beat the old chop back and forth style 😅, I've had enough already this week 🥵

    Hi , single sided for me …with catcher plate . Much cleaner job … you can nearly flick the clippings into the bag !

    • @RJLgardens
      @RJLgardens  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yep agree mate, no leaving loads of messy clippings on tops of hedges 😅

    Hi I think it is what you leant with when first started single side for me

    • @RJLgardens
      @RJLgardens  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeh you could be right there, however even after thousands of hours using each type, i would still probably pick the single sider for most hedges. Just more comfortable and more efficient in my eyes. 👍

    What would be your recommendation for ear defenders? Ones with blue tooth would be nice.

    • @RJLgardens
      @RJLgardens  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I prefer ear buds as get too hot in ear defenders, so cant help soz.

      A guy I knew used Bluetooth ear protectors for years and wound up dying from brain cancer. I usually put corded ear buds inside my regular ear protectors.

    I ran 40" echo single sided for years then changed to a double sided husqvarna with 30" blades.
    You get used to one machine but after a while can get accustomed to another.
    The single sided had its advantages but also drawbacks, havs vibration on the side handle being one.

    • @RJLgardens
      @RJLgardens  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You dont miss having a single sider now then? I've never noticed vibration issues, if anything find them better than doubles for that. Suppose it comes down to what type of work you do as well. You would probably like the battery single sider, very light and hardly any vibration. Cheers 👍

    I need to lop about 12" off the top of an established lonicera hedge, which would you go for? Or something more heavy duty?

    • @RJLgardens
      @RJLgardens  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would use a double sided and probably a petrol hedge trimmer with better quality blades if cutting thick stuff. Blades are not the best on these battery trimmers.

    The stihl version of the 87r is for reducing. The 87t is for trimming smaller. If u could only get one, which do u recommend? Does the R ones not cut as fine? Thanks!

    • @RJLgardens
      @RJLgardens  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thats a tough choice, but if i could only have one, it would be R version as its more versatile, it can cut fine stuff as well. T version just leaves a better finish on those dense thick fine hedges. 👍

    You got me interested in those Makita Hedge Trimmers. I use the Stihl HSA 100 already besides several gas powered types. Do your Makita Trimmers run on the 18 V Battery?

    • @RJLgardens
      @RJLgardens  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeh both these are 18v, they do these in 40v as well, but they are slightly heavier i think. You not happy with the stihl?

    • @marcelmanten
      @marcelmanten 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RJLgardens The blade of the HSA 100 is only 60 cm and for models with longer blades the battery is externally connected via cable. You have to carry it on a belt or on your back.
