Reading and Northern Autumn Leaf 2016 425 Steam, Unassisted, No Diesel, Many Wheel Slips

  • This year was an amazing year for the Autumn Leaf. Today 425 pulled 8 cars, including 3 heavyweights, up the steep grade through Tamaqua and on to Jim Thorpe, by itself. The light pacific struggled its way up the heavy grade, putting on a great show of wheel slips and lots of steam. I also chased the normal trips last weekend, but I got so much footage that Windows can't handle it, so I'll be releasing last week's video in 2 or 3 parts. The great thing about this morning was 425 pulling out of Port Clinton. Because of a new rule, thanks to idiots complaining about getting hit with steam (well they shouldn't have been trespassing in the yard, so it's their own fault) (Plus once the steam from the cylinder cocks hits the atmosphere, it's warm at most, not hot) the Autumn Leaf trip pulls out using the diesel, while 425 gets pushed out. But since there was no diesel today, 425 put on quite a show. Enjoy and thanks so much to the R&N for such a fantastic year.

    Rode this trip the best one Andy organized in many a yr. The open gondola was nice the next year but the train was to light. This consist was perfect.

    Whistle is a CNJ 3 chime. It's an original 113 has a replica of this whistle. The so called 5 min warning whistle although used today as a warning is actually "calling the flag" which told the flagman it was time to haul butt back to the caboose or coach!!

    Some really great shots man! I was chasing that day too and those guys really had their hands full. She was really struggling for traction at times!! Must have been pretty nerve racking for them, especially as they were approaching state road.

    Really nice video. I,particularly liked the shots over the cornfield with the backlit smoke. Was this taken along Rte.895 between Molino and Drehersville, near Hawk Mountain?

    You removed The Lone Ranger theme?

    • @JasonSchaedlerVideos
      @JasonSchaedlerVideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd like to start making money from my videos on TH-cam, but the Lone Ranger theme is copyrighted, so it has to be removed from all videos I want to make money on. Recently I started using a noncopyrighted version of the William Tell Overture (the Lone Ranger theme), so all videos in the future will have it.

      + axle17921 No, but that would've been funny if they did make a bet. I heard they believed 425 could handle the train by itself, so they let it go at it alone.

    What constitutes a minute and a half long intro? Was hardly enough for me to stay for the actual video

    • @JasonSchaedlerVideos
      @JasonSchaedlerVideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well what "constitutes" is a compilation of every locomotive showcased on this channel. The reason I keep such a long intro is because I like it and the majority of my viewers like it.
