I should add that brassica flowers are good for pollinators. I wouldn't plant the marigolds right next to the alyssum, I'd leave at least a couple of feet between them.
Hello! Yes, they are easy to grow in this area. What I have found to be key in growing peonies is sun, plant them high (seriously, crown above soil line, if you bury them, they won't bloom) and stake them when they first emerge. I use heavy duty tomato cages. There is actually a new type of peony that I've been wanting to try that's cross between a tree peony and an herbaceous peony. It's supposed to have the best qualities of both. It's called an itoh peony.
